the funny thing is…
if you had to pick 1 of those players to lead your attack,
would Bobby be your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th choice?

Probably not, But the others never had Jurgen Klopp as manager.
He started this season on fire but it is the injuries that stopped that, I would still have loved him for 1 more year, not 2 due to the current frequency of injuries.
A player that we all watched that always brought a smile to our faces because he just loves the game
I think I stated earlier… I loved Gerrard for his intensity and willingness on a weekly basis to leave it all on the pitch. he was driven, a beast of a footballer.
Bobby exemplified jogo bonito in many ways. he made the incredibly difficult look easy, but he wasn’t a lazy footballer at all. just very fluid with the ball, great balance and very quick on his feet. the smiles, oh how he loves to play football.
I’ve been very spoiled during my lifetime to see some of the greats play football. I was recently reminded, that I got to see Pele play football at Empire Stadium in the NASL in the late 70’s. I remember being in the stands watching the game (I would have been three or four) but I don’t remember him playing.
Lucky bugger
Just watched a compilation of Bobby, he was so skillful and aware of his teammates, on the edge of the opposition box with runners off him he was unbelievable at picking the pass, a player that linked everything together in the final 3rd.
Someone as a forward you would love playing with and as an opposition defender you would hate playing against.
The compilation showed many fantastic passes that should have led to goals brilliant brilliant player
how many goals you think Mo would be at if he wasn’t playing next to Bobby. Sadio too.
In their prime as a forward trio as there been any better it used to be so instinctive as Mo and Sadio would be on the move as the ball was played to Bobby knowing that he would be able to put them in on goal.
Although the last few seasons I did think our running off the ball to get in behind became lacking, possibly due to Bobby having to drop too deep to link up play
For me Bobby is the type of player I pay to watch, probably even more than the likes of Mo, Suarez was in that category too, you never knew what they were going to do
I’ve seen ‘better’ forwards than Bobby for Liverpool, but I’m not old enough to have seen a forward line more sublime than Sadio, Bobby and Mo in their pomp. Pure entertainment.
So sad to see him go but hopefully he gets 1 last chance to reach the highs he already has had in his career.By far my favourite player, both in ability and personality, in Klopps time.
Great guy who’ll be sorely missed
there’s so many different classes of “forwards” that it’s really dependent on his role.
Bobby has shown the world how to play a false9. he deserves the plaudits. He’ll never be a Suarez, or a Rush, but he wasn’t meant to be that player.
He wasn’t meant to be a forward at all when we bought him!
100%. You have your goal machines like your Ibra’s Benzema’s Lewa’s Aguero’s Suarez of this world who whilst are more then capable of producing moments of individual brilliance most come alive in the box…Bobby very much the opposite, he did most of his good work outside the box, drawing defenders out and making late springs into the box from deep and the constant harassment of not giving CB’s a moments rest…would our front 3 have worked as effectively if Bobby was never there and we had 1 of the others mentioned above? With Suarez we could say so as he was once a Pool player, the others? Hmm.
Virgil van Dijk on Firmino:
“I would say Bobby Firmino is the greatest player I have ever played with.”
Joel Matip on Firmino:
“He’s brilliant, a brilliant connecting player and now he scores even more. It’s brilliant to have him in our side.”
I could not believe the sad news he could have helped us for two more years and how are we going to replace his brilliant smile and personality his celebrations and no look goals.
without his injuries at his brilliant best he would have helped Nunes and Mo score loads of goals. as som said I hope he plays every game till the end of the season and I also hope he goes to Spain and not to a premier league team I would loathe him scoring against us!
A little piece of me died with this news.
One of my favourite Liverpool players of all time, the attitude, skill, work ethic and infectious smile will be greatly missed.
Wishing you success in all your future endeavors Bobby. YNWA
I’m glad you mentioned the hard graft because it’s what makes Bobby so compelling. Brazilian number 9, which evokes thoughts of your Ronaldos/ Rivaldos etc but the real memorable part of Bobby is that hard work, high press and real team attitude, along with the skill that he obviously has.
Been a real favourite of mine, the kids have had a Firmino 11 shirt which has passed through them, my daughter still wears it. I know he’s leaving for the right reasons and sincerely hope he gets an enjoyable last few years in his career.
He will be back for legends matches for sure, at the very least.
