I’m at peace with us not wanting him because even if we do move on from slot it isn’t necessarily the case that he’d be the best choice. But I HATE him going to Chelsea

Could be a stalking horse sort of thing. Negotiating with Chelsea, progressing along and apparently ready to sign - but he hasn’t signed yet. Is he waiting for another suitor to emerge?
I hope Alonso comes here but like Limie, I’m chilled and what will be will be. Iraola looks like he plays the sort of football we want to see, and maybe there might be some fruit to come from a Bournemouth connection? E.g. Kroupi?

With Mo’s tweet and many players piling on, it is looking increasingly untenable for Slot. If we don’t sign Alonso then either Slot is staying, or more likely for me, we have our eye on another.

I agree Xabi is charismatic and tactically astute, but what we need right now is someone who commands this team with authority.
