Losing out on Xabi hurts. I think he would have been an immense hire for us. But I can accept not hiring him. And if you’re not hiring him, then you can’t complain if he goes to a rival. I think he’s going to be very good there.

Meh. Chances are he’ll already have been sacked by Chelsea* by the time we get round to sacking Slot.
My Iraola theory becomes that little bit stronger with this news.

Iraola is interesting, but to me, near as much risk as Slot. This club needs someone with gravitas.

Don’t believe a word of it nothing is going to happen until after the end of the season, this agreement in principle from Chelsea is just what they do to jump the gun to make us give up on Alonso, I am certain after the Villa defeat that there will be a crisis meeting with the CEO to get rid of Slot and replace him with Alonso.

Iraola is a good manager but the only caveat against him he has not experienced playing 3 times a week, look what it has done to slot he ended up being the shell of the composed man in winning the league.

Well if Alonso is willing to be the Chelsea manager… then I question his judgement and that could be a big bullet dodged.
I really hate to say that about him, because he is one of my favourite ex players.

Maybe the Club have decided that if/when they replace Slot they go for a experienced manager who has gone through bad spells and was able to rectify them without the need for another spending spree.
They’ll know that the biggest question mark with Slot was that if he has a difficult spell could he recover and I’d wonder if they want someone who has experience in that situation.

That’s the information I was looking for before commenting on the news of Xabi taking over Chelsea.
If anything we will be looking for another marionette to work under those other marionettes.
