Oh Xabi, Xabi, Xabi

Oh Xabi, Xabi, Xabi

Do you still have any insider’s information on the fate of the head coach? ![]()
This is a master stroke by us. We give Slot one more year, he will revive the team well enough for CL spots once again, finish his contract, and Xabi would be sacked by Chelsea owners after a difficult season again and by then he would have PL experience and gets hired by us and we will dominate the league and live happily ever after.
And then, you woke up ![]()
If he is given the remit of a traditional manager, they might actually start cooking. players will be under no illusion who’s in charge. Judging by how Chelsea played in the FA Cup final,If Alonso gets a few transfers and the tactics right (which he is known to be good at) then they’re not really that far off mounting a title challenge.
Nope!
The London clubs were pretty mad at us letting Alonso becoming the manager of Chelsea. ![]()
If Slot is here next season (even if he gets sacked before Christmas) Chelsea are going to win a trophy before we do.
Pretty sure Xabi can do something with the core of that squad.
Realistically speaking, he won’t stay with them for long anyway. It’s only a matter of time before things go wrong over there. What disappoints me is that we haven’t even tried to get him, but nobody can seriously expect him not to start working again.
The blame lies entirely with us, not Xabi or even Chelsea.
look, they beat some pretty good teams at the club World Cup no matter what people might think about that trophy. if they gave Maresca the same remit that they’re giving Xabi he probably still would’ve stayed. And I’m sure Xabi made it crystal clear that this crazy wheeling dealing with players especially for the match day squad has got to stop. And given the dire straits they were in they probably couldn’t believe their luck that Xabi Alonso would even talk to them.
They are 9th in the PL table but still made it to CL quarter final, League Cup semi final and FA Cup final. It’s not a bad squad.
Really hope they qualify for the Conference League. We all saw what was possible for ManU without European distraction.
Disagree, what I mentioned earlier in this thread, even before the journalist tweeted about Xabi being the manager and not a head coach, was that a couple of colleagues at my work who personally know Chelsea people said that their leadership have learned their lesson and basically told Xabi that he has full authority to make whatever changes he deems necessary, whether that be playing personnel or coaching changes, tactics, anything football related. Seems like they were spot on with their information.
This is different.
I think LFC is just keeping quiet because deep down they know they have really fucked this up
They have such a big and deep squad it really doesn’t matter to them.
It is a good young squad and that they invested in youth a while back. Thought that was a good approach, Ignoring the silly longer than anyone’s player contract length.
However, if Alonso is the euro conference league bound, then he might struggle hanging onto players like -
Fernandez
Palmer
Caicedo
Neto
Pedro
Estevao
Garnacho
I’d take that now knowing that Alonso would travel to random Croatian, Poland, other regions that could distract from the premier league fixtures.
Wonder whether Flo is questioning his choice. I’d expect Chelsea will finish above us next season - and we’ll be scrabbling around to have a league cup quarter final and fa cup final as season highlights - and I doubt the bookies would give great odds for that.
Regards Alonso coming to LFC… for all we know, he was considered/approached for the job before we talked with Slot, only for Alonso to choose RM…
There is a reason why we haven’t made any noise about him this time around… for most of us outsiders, we have to hope FSG have called this right
You mean it’s similar to asking a girl you really like out, instead she went with the big buffed guy instead. After she got ditched, you aren’t going to ask her to go out with you again? Yeah, I totally get that. ![]()
Champions League R16 not QF (but did not finish in Top 4 in group stage) though.
When he signs for Chelsea I will not think about him as a Liverpool legend any more. Once he rejected us, while at Bayer /this is his choice and I understand it/, then went to the club which he really loves /Real Madrid/ and now chose the most plastic club in the PL.
I am totally disappointed by Alonso…
