Do you think he will get called-up for the World Cup?
If heās fit and in ānormalā form, of course he will.
He always seems to raise his game for the NT, but considering he couldnāt hold a place in the French League, itās an uphill task.
Sadly I think heās been a bit of a tactical misfit everywhere heās been. No doubting his ability, just never finding a team that suited him.
Apart from Stoke
This player - who by the way is a bigger Liverpool Legend than Thiago - is the only one who scored in the last 6 international tournaments.
You can praise a player without slagging another.
No no no
Thiago is 1.74m tall. Shaqiri is 1.65m.
That should clear things up.
Neither of them left a particularly big footmark.
Shaq won CL and PL with us.
8 goals / 9 assists
Scored a brace vs ManU (after coming on from bench)
Scored vs Everton
Started at Anfield vs Barca
Had an underrated Liverpool career.
Yeah he was a tidy little squad player. Putting the word legend near either Thiago or Shaqiri is kind of crazy though. Naby Keita also won a CL and PL, scored and assisted in a win away at Old Trafford. Scored in the CWC semi-final and started in three cup final victories.
Theyāre all just pieces in the cog that was Liverpoolās winning machine of 2018-2022.
Agreed. Thiago was a lesser player for us and certainly a far bigger disappointment. To insinuate otherwise is churlish.
Nobody did insinuate that.
A post was made praising Shaqiri which contained an unnecessary dig at Thiago.
Thiago is/was a better player.
Shaqiri was a decent squad player who played his part for what he came on board for.
Thiago ,when fit was a regular starter. Shaqiri wasnt starting games regularly. Injuries derailed Thiagoās time at Liverpool.
I prefer childish. Thiago is clearly the bigger (taller) player.
As far as contributions etc goes I wish both could have done more.
Well how about this: Shaq is underappreciated, especially in cf to Thiago who was a huge disappointment.
The Shaqiri tournament highlight reel is quite something.
Heās on fire indeed. Didnāt get injured once during the season (probably a first in his career), and has really delivered. Of course, the Swiss league isnāt the best around, but itās still remarkable.
When he arrived, FCB had just ended the previous season on ninth place from twelve clubs, fighting relegation almost all the way. This season, they are nine points clear after beating second-placed club Servette 5-1 this week-end, and are in the Swiss Cup final.
Itās very rare that one can say that, but he, much more than manager Celestini or anyone else, has turned around the clubās fortunes. In a spectacular way too. Most importantly, he has brought back the winning spirit to his home club.
Pleasant surprise for me.
I know the Swiss league isnāt high quality but didnt have too many hopes for him after seeing his struggles in MLS.
As previously mentioned, heās an amazing player when fit. And he evidently has been fit post the move to Basel
