I think we will win the Prem. Losing VVD a massive blow, and a couple other injuries in the position have been as welcome as a fart in a lift.
But we have a lot of other good players, and crucially, a winning mentality.
Nobody is going to run away with it this year. No preseason to speak of, and the games coming thick and fast. The very best teams won’t hit the highs of the last 2-3 yrs in terms of points haul, and the best of the rest might close the gap somewhat, so the top four race will be interesting right down to the wire.
The CL is anyone’s guess. We are one of a handful of clubs who can win it, definitely, but against the elite and best strikers, and teams in Europe, we will miss VVD. I would have Bayern Munich as favorites, but after that we are as good as anyone else, and even then, if we drew Bayern Munich, I wouldn’t bet against us as anything can happen in knockout football.
We are winning the Prem. Beyond that, I dunno.
If we try to play more often or for longer parts of the game like we played today in the first 20 minutes half of our players will be injured soon.
This season is just too intense. Games coming thick and fast and now the conditions (cold, wet and bad pitches) are getting worse.

It’ll be a long, hard grind, but we will 100% be there when the whips are cracking.

The schedule is mad and injuries are going to play a big part this season. So far, we’re coping well. We’ve had 7 games since the last international break and had 5 different CB pairings in that time, but we’ve looked much more secure since the Villa defeat. More like our old selves. 5 wins and 2 draws (away at Everton and City), so a really good three weeks.
Apart from Atalanta we haven’t played with much fluency but we’ve dug in and shown the mentality that won us the CL and the PL in the previous two seasons. A lot of people were rushing to write us off after the Virgil injury but we’ve responded brilliantly. Still the team to beat.

I think it’s why if we can get qualification wrapped up in the CL it will allow us to rest. Good thing is we now have 3 bites at the cherry.

Hoping that Fabinho and Ox will return right after the break.
As soon as Fabinho is back we should rotate the 3 CBs. None of him, Gomez and Matip should play more than 2 games without a break.
And if we can win the next CL game then in the last two group stage games the lineup should be
Adrian
Neco Nat Rhys Kosta
Ox Keita Milner Shaq
Taki Div
Edit: Should have added Curtis.

If we win the league again this season with the injuries sustained to our entire backline (multiple times) it will be such an achivement.

It would be absolutely massive. But let’s not kid ourselves: if Gomez’ injury is a serious, long-lasting one, we’ll be seriously handicapped.

Klopp needs to start addressing Phillips and Rhys Williams as Hummels and Subotic.
At the age of just 20 Klopp was starting them both as a CB pairing in the Bundesliga. Phillips is 23 and Williams will be 20 in February.
