Expectations for the season

A proper bid for Bellingham now and top4 maybe even higher is achievable.

Just don’t get relegated, will do!

This is EXACTLY how I feel at the moment.

I don’t have any expectations regarding performances or results. I want the team (and the individual players) wakes up from the slumber. They start to play with energy, hunger, and pride.

If they do that, I think we can still achieve a lot.

Wake up, Reds. YNWA.

We still have to play some big teams and some ‘smaller’ teams we were not able to beat in the first part of the season but our biggest enemy is our away weakness.

It’s definitely a psychological problem and Jürgen and staff have to solve this before the end of the season.

Totally agree.

It’s not who we play, no one is unbeatable for us in those fixtures but the problem is ourselves especially going 1-0 down.

The performance after that goal was shocking in general, generally thought before that we looked good but wasteful.

I never thought top 4 was realistic because of this type of away performance. It’s very much there to still get Europe (even CL) and Leeds did us a favour today on that as I expect all 5,6,7 places will be Europa league or Brighton will pinch one in the cup.

It depends if the psychological issues can be sorted. Only thing I’ll say is thankfully it doesn’t seem to kick in if we are struggling to score but then again the two games both Man Utd and more so Wolves we’re at home.

“Expectations for the rest of the season”?

‘Turn up’ and beat the big teams. ‘No show’ and lose to the minnows.

Rinse and repeat.

I have no expectations any more. Some hope but that’s running thin

Having any “expectations” to begin with is a fool’s game, it’s a quick and easy way to disappoint yourself…

That said, I always found it odd that people seem to believe that other teams around us are doing so much better than us that they’ll obviously run away with the points and we’ll be left in 10th or whatever. Spurs have won 3 and lost 2 of their most recent 5 games, Newcastle drew 3 and lost 2, and Brighton won 2, drew 2, and lost 1.

That makes it 9, 3, and 8 points for teams who are supposedly going to run rampant all over our prospects of Champions League football next season. Meanwhile we’re in disastrous form, having picked up 3 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss, for 10 points.

I’m really struggling to see how so many consider us dead and buried.

Expectations on the pitch? Not losing any away games will be great!
Expectations off the pitch? I hope Mike Gordon attends every matches we have left to see for himself how much help Klopp needs from FSG in terms of funding and staffing of key recruitment positions.

My expectations for the rest of the season are everyone will win games, lose games and draw some. After 38 games, 1 team will lift a trophy and be joined by 3 others in qualifying for a European wide competition, whilst some will qualify for a less repritable European competition and 3 teams will drop down to a lesser English competition.

Why are these players picking and choosing which matches to turn it on for? Happened too many times this season

I expect us to win some and lose some.

I don’t know what to think!

When I tried this around the World Cup break, we had obviously had a bad first part of the season, but my thinking was a break, some warm weather training, regroup, kick on and finish top four, and anything can happen in the cup competitions.

Since then we have continued to stumble along, and the last two games have shown us both the highs and lows the current team can hit.

As such, I can’t trust them! So it is impossible to say what I think we will do.

Strangely enough, top four still hasn’t gone, but it gets harder and harder the more results we get like Bournemouth. And after their own wobble, both Newcastle and Spurs were back on the win bus this week.

My expectation is a summer midfield refresh, two top operators who will be mainstays in the side, augmented by the old group that remains and the young group coming through. Hopefully investment and good summer business, and then back to challenging for the title again next season.

But as for the remainder of this season, who knows?

We look dead and buried in the CL, but then I remember what we did to Barcelona, and Man Utd just over a week ago.

The hope is killing me!

Got to watch out for that @Hope.in.your.heart - seems like a great guy on the surface but don’t let him lock you in his cellar…

The next few are tough but we actually play better against the better teams.

Leeds, West Ham, Leicester, Southampton. I want three away wins to leave our bad record on the road behind us before the end of the season.

Otherwise we might take it into next season no matter who we sign.

If we don’t make top-four, I hope we qualify for Europa League and we take that seriously. However, I’m not so keen on Conference League.
