Don’t think he had a chance to get a proper look at Macca yet.
Dom will always be subject to the brainfarts. If he controls that , he can be a supreme box to box midfielder. His direct freekicks provide us the goal threat as well.
Do think he will be Liverpool’s next captain once Virgil calls it a day. Name him as a vice captain and get him that added responsibility. For many players , being made a captain gives them the added onus to play better
Maybe but ultimately it´s football. I think people are going a bit OTT on Iraola like he will reinvent the wheel.
Ah interesting, thanks for that. Yes I think Mac probably is the most balanced player, as you say. Just remains to be seen if he can get back to a good level.
Best thing Slot over did was to stop talk of a transition season in that first summer and be clear that this is a team that should be challenging for the league.
I think we have much better chance that people are saying. Yes, winning the league will be hard, but I’ve seen us predicted to finish 8-10th place, which is absurd.
Our first team is the equal of any in the league. Especially if we bring in Barcola. It’s the depth that concerns me, and I think we could do with 2-3 more bodies around the squad. We’d need a bit of luck, but that’s true of any team winning the league.
Was it after the game on Sunday? Probably those he felt performed that day, hence the two defenders who had good games.
Anything is possible and I’m not counting out winning the league. Arsenal must be favourites since they have so much depth and are the culmination of a years long project where they have backed Arteta to the hilt.
My expectation is comfortable CL finish and hopefully a trophy. But with a fair wind there’s no reason why we can’t challenge strongly for the league. Anything is possible in the CL, though if we do sign Barcola I would laugh my head off if he knocked PSG out.
I had no particular expectations in Slot’s first season and we ended up strolling the league.
Can it happen again?
I thought I would post the Guardian’s preview for the season here. It seems a reasonably balanced assessment:
I doubt it, we sacked him.
Win the fucking lot

As it stands I think we will finish 6th or 7th.
I just dont see how a team that scraped 5th with the worst points total for years can improve after losing Robbo, Salah and Konate when we were already 4 or 5 players short last season.
I really rate our manager but we havent (yet) backed him with the right tools.
We have 1 fit forward going into the season and he is as reliable as a chocolate teapot.
VVD is mid 30s and we really need Ali back to his near best.
Arsenal lose Saliba for a period of time so go and buy Konsa…Weve lost far more players and have done nothing about it. Jones is also heading out the door.
Arsenal will walk the league. City are in transition so who knows about them, Chelsea, United and Spurs will be much better.
Predicition
1 Arsenal (by a mile)
2 Chelsea (No Euro footy)
3 City
4 Spurs (No Euro footy)
5 United (Carrick to be sacked by Xmas - Olly mk 2)
6 LFC
To change my mind we need 5 top class players and I just dont see that happening with 11 days left of the window. We have lost everything that Klopp built in 2 years.
Its a huge season for Wirtz (did OK) and Isak who need produce every week.
Where are these 5 top class players playing?
Have to say I agree with Walshy.
Vini, Yamal, Kane, Valverde & Vitinha. Unless we get these 5 players in, I just don’t see how we finish above Spurs.
On the pitch when our usual 20 injuries occur.
Bradley and Gomez are perm broke
Ekitike out for the season pretty much.
VVD is 35 and cannot play every minute like last season.
The other CBs are kids who cannot play every game and ones come back from a year out and the other has played 45 mins.
Isak is unreliable.
Other than that were fine.

We don’t need a top class player to replace Gomez though. Leoni in his current status can replace him.
I would say we probably need two attackers and a Midfielder. The fact of the matter is we brought in 5 players last season and only 1-2 showed some promise. Of the remaining 3 we are yet to see anything consistent.
We are certainly short but I still think we are amongst the best 4 sides in the league if our players perform. If we get two in then I am sure we will be fine. I assume Gakpo is considered as a centre forward as well.
How did Spurs suddenly become better than us after buying some deadwood from City?
Expectation: Hughes to fuck off and take his lame duck mate Edwards with him

Edwards has already gone hasn’t he?
It does look a bit like Iraola isn’t getting the support he needs—in terms of squad reinforcements—to start the season with at least a reasonable chance of success as the new coach. It’s not that we lack quality across the board, but rather that we simply lack depth; a player or two would really help us out there. Still, I’d be happy to be pleasantly surprised, given that we do have a little time left. Otherwise, I’m very curious to see how he handles our youth players, as we will undoubtedly need them for support.
What puts my mind at ease a little is that he has previously proven his ability to compensate for shortcomings through coaching. That said, I’ve mentally prepared myself for a bumpy start while everything settles into place. For now, I’m just hoping to see positive development and, once again, good, entertaining football. Then we’ll see where we stand around Christmas.
