Federico CHIESA: 2025/26

Fine and all but let’s not base this on the back of the tweet above, it’s fishing.

It’s not though, is it. That’s the latest in a series of non-starts and non-substitutions that paint a picture.

As I said let’s not base it on that tweet.

Nothing else makes sense! the idea doesn’t either but looks the answer, why you would not play someone like him even to help the kids is beyond commonsense. But then I’m not Slot!

Hope he gets more game time and starts. I thought he played his part the first half and tired later on and got replaced. Okay nothing extraordinary but he played his part.

Nothing special really, didn’t see him enough, was our least active player.

Felt early on we forced the switch towards the right side a bit too early, we misplaced really some poor long balls in that first half an hour.

Chiesa getting a start soon was inevitable though and that’s why I found it strange that Frimpong (did well with his two assists) came on before him against Tottenham.

Can you explain what your trying to say?

Pretty poor cameo today, almost everything he touched turned out bad for us. I know we chased it near the end and he’s not had a lot of minutes lately. We almost conceded from that defensive throw-in when Chiesa was at RB and Szobo RW, but they had time to go back in their positions and didn’t.

I sometimes wonder if he’d more useful (more often anyway) off the left than on the right. Making also some inside runs off the ball Pedro style, rather than having to beat players on the outside on the right, which Frimpong can do pretty well in an old school way.

Probably a bit hard for him,we know there is quality there and he has a coach who clearly thinks he has some issue with BO or something.
Have believed for a while Slot plays favourites, and, for me,that has no place at this level.

No. I don’t see it at all. The only quality attribute is his finishing. Anything else is shit. He looks hopeless taking on anyone, while being too weak to keep the ball. Every time he tries to do something that requires more than 1 touch, I always expect us to lose the ball.

Dude looks fat

Chiesa’s transfer increasingly looks like another bit of poor planning, aside from always looking like a failed gamble in which the club wanted to play smart. He’s a symptom, not the cause, though - I agree with Zoran that he should be playing left (or even centrally) rather than on the right but you have out of sorts Gakpo on the left and an unproven, albeit mightily talented kid - and both look as good as him.

While I place a lot of blame on Slot for the team’s current predicament, there’s no doubt that blame should be shared with those who were planning the squad layout over the last two or three years. That’s for a different discussion, though, but the bottom line is that none of our rivals for the title or top four would have signed Chiesa at the point Liverpool signed him.

I hoped he would live up to the legend created by his absences.

He hasn’t.
He was awful yesterday.
