Yeah, raising it as a suggestion, or a request, I think would have made people far more sympathetic to the argument.

It is generally my response to these sorts of arguments to acquiesce, but I really think youād have to be a bit of cock to reject that out of hand. He came in with both feet almost like he wanted to be told he was wrong though.

Who are you leaving out? There are squad limits and he was seemingly competing with Rio for the final spot among the 17 non-home grown (Rio falls into that weird gap where he doesnt qualify to be on the B list because he hasnt been here long enough and weirdly isnt old enough to have racked up the years needed to be home grown when considered as a senior).
Its an incredibly ballsy move for Slot of go with Rio but I would have thought fans would celebrate having that sort of prospect on the books.

If Slot thinks Rio gives us the best chance of winning then fine. Heās earned our trust whilst Chiesa clearly hasnāt earned Slotās.

I just think itās the fitness thing. In Fedeās defence, heās more flexible than Rio, but you have to think that the backroom staff know best.

I would not be surprised to learn that Slot, along with Hughes and others, sat down with Fede, and explained the situation. Probably explaining how instrumental it could be for Rioās development, and that after the January window, they would try to work this out so that he could be brought back in for the knockout rounds.
Chiesa is such a team first guy that he may have accepted this begrudgingly, but accepted it nonetheless. Possibly promised him more minutes as a sub in league games as well.

It might have something to do with Guehi, in that we need four centerbacksā¦ but probably not five. We could have left Leoni out if Guehi had come in. Then we would have had the spot for Chiesa.

Chiesa is worth his place in the squad for the enthusiasm he brings aloneā¦ Iām not sure there is a player in world football that could win the 100m dash against Chiesa once he sets off to join in the celebration after a goal is scoredā¦
For whatever the reasoning, injury aside, Iām disappointed he has not been named in the squadā¦ If he doesnāt leave on his own volition now in January, I really hope he is named in the latter stagesā¦ If we reach them.!!

Is that true? I simply canāt understand this level of arrogance and disdain from Slot. Itās disgracious imo. Chiesa has done absolutely nothing to deserve that treatment.
