Iā€™m happy heā€™s happy.

Even if we can get one season out of him that resembles the Chiesa of old, itā€™ll have been worth it, so hereā€™s hoping he can prove the critics wrong.

There is a bloody good player in there, needs to be brought out,Slotā€™s attitude has been well discussed,Iraola even in one friendly has shown he is likely to give everyone a chance..doubt he is unhappy about what he saw against Sunderland.

So the squad is looking fairly thin currently and the market for wingers is looking tough. Chiesa is here already and has said he is happy to stay but does want to play more which could be an option under a new manager so I was wondering where people think he might have the best chance of playing.

With Ekitike out injured could he be a backup/alternative to Isak? Gakpo and Munoz the other forward options in the squad to compete with.

With Salah gone the right wing spot is up for grabs, Rio has mentioned about playing there but Rio, like Munoz and Gakpo are more naturally used on the left as is Barcola if he joins, potentially Dom or Harvey could play there or could Fede-x be the one to deliver on the right wing?

Wirtz and Dom would be the most likely choices for AM, Harvey and Munoz can also play there but if more of a second striker is needed than a number 10 could Chiesa play there?

Itā€™s possible. If he stays, I think he should primarily be an option for the two central positions. Heā€™s got the smartness, the movement, good ability to combine with other players, and he can finish. I donā€™t think heā€™s got the speed or other qualities to be a big threat from the flanks, so for me he makes more sense through the middle.

He just played as a twin striker, with Koumas and looked very good with some really great 1st touch passing.

If a pre-season game is anything to go off then that is his position.

I have always thought he is best in and around the area as he seems to be quick in relation to getting a shot off and also looks to have lost the pace for the wide positions

28, officially injury free for a solid while now (since spring?) and still canā€™t get himself a move.

I guess be careful next time we brand someone a bargain or ā€œmust do at that priceā€ deal whenever someone costs around ā‚¬10m.

ā‚¬10m means basically ā€˜on a freeā€™ these days anyway, in this crazy football world.

But that is not the sole financial aspect of the deal. There are wages and other aspects where the players was recently. If he was such a true bargain, more clubs would be willing to take him not long after that. And we are struggling to find a buyer.

It turns out that it was easier to sell Gakpo, after a below standard season, for a big fee to City, than to find a buyer for the great bargain called Federico Chiesa.

The rest cannot be ignored, because itā€™s only part of the financial package. So coupled with wages, same money that we pay as the fee, itā€™s not nothing.

So, is he our Isak backup for now? Or is he more of a Carabao guy?

Bah, any type of transfer is a gamble. Will Barcolaā€™s monster-move pay off for us? Will the Ā£25m we paid for Leoni last summer pay off, or the 100m+ for Isak (and the wages to go with it)? Maybe, maybe not.

The gamble on Chiesa hasnā€™t worked off as well as we hoped for, tough luckā€¦ But yeah, his wages donā€™t seem to reflect his status of a squaddie (roughly ā‚¬150k a week), thatā€™s where Hughes got it wrong.

He could still leave on loan to another country canā€™t he? I thought there were always a few days post window closing for moves like that?

I think more the latter. Probably find a new place in January, if we donā€™t have new serious injuries and he doesnā€™t do something surprisingly good.

He can, yes, forgot about that. Thereā€™s a few open windows yet, Saudi and Turkey at least.

But I think he might be needed just for numbers, unless they think Danns is ready for some first team minutes soon.
