I have a couple of neighbours in my street who let off a few fireworks last night, not many though.

Just curious, do you have people in your part of the world contending between Diwali and Deepavali? There are Indians over my side of the world who insists that we use Deepavali for the South Indians instead of Diwali. Just wondering are these such distinction being made between the Indians in Europe?

It may depend on the part of the country. In Glasgow, I knew it though Sikh friends whose ancestors would have been from the Punjab.
It’s a really big thing in Leicester, although I think many of the Hindus there came via Uganda. I’m not sure where in particular their Indian ancestors would have been from. Possibly all over.
