FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 1)

Nice to see red colour in this overwhelmingly blue city (Canucks, Whitecaps, Goldeneyes)

i know Messi is Fifa’s darling because that challenge he got away with against Algeria is at least a yellow if not a red card

Hahaha, the Canadian crowd calling for Crépeau (keeper) to shoot.

Bitter sweet result. 6-0 win and David’s hat trick but with serious injury to Koné.

TSN panel gave Jonathan David the player of the match.

Saliba showed Koné kit after coming on to replace the seriously injuried Koné and immediately scored a wonderful freekick.

Not sure why we randomly treated to his hattrick by ITV before, he’s not playing tonight or even tomorrow.

Kone’s leg broken?

Ibrahim Mbaye who scored they’re only goal against France looked seriously impressive one on one. He absolutely pantsed the French defender and blasted the goal in.

I also remember him looking impressive in AFCON

I noticed that almost all the Colombia players have this real street fighting style of football. They are super scrappy and never take no for an answer when it comes to a challenge. They might get fouled but they don’t seem to even mind as long as they can win the ball back and just keep going.

Just saw the replay of that. Rather wish I didn’t see it,

Horrible Horrible outcome. I didn’t think it was with that force either too. Deserved Red Card and should probably lead to the Qatar footballer getting an extended time out of the game.

Either broken leg or broken ankle. TSN (our Canadian broadcast of the World Cup) did not show any closeup (Thank goodness), but you can hear Marsch was shouting at the ref about broken leg.

US coverage has spent at least 10 of the opening 15 mins speaking, with barely hidden surprise, about how delightful Guadalajara is.

Korean is trying to put everyone asleep. Absolutely no ambition in attacking at all.

México aren’t much better, their first game was also drab.

Well, Korea even bored their own keeper to sleep. Such an awful blunder by the keeper. At least Korea has to come out and play, or at least attempted to play (but their quality is shite).

The broadcaster showed the possession chart, that is such bullshit. Korea got a lot of the ball and the 2nd part of the 1st half, but they only passed the ball at the own half with zero attempt to attack.

Fantastic saves from both keepers within the last 5 minutes. Only a few more minutes to go in regulation time.

TSN Panel gave Luis Romo (Mexico goal scorer) the Player of the Match.

As a fracas breaks out at midfield, a devastated Qatari keeper Mahmud Abunada looked to break down in tears in front of his goal, only to be comforted by a teammate and Jacob Shaffelberg

Mahmud Abunada (I think he was the keeper in the last match?) was on such a high in the last outing against the Swiss with all the massive saves keeping Qatar in the match. I think he was overcome with emotions and was in tears of joy last time. It’s tough having to pick the ball out of his own net 6 times this match. His teammates certainly did not help with a Dogso red card and another sent off for bad challenge.

It has been that way for over 10 years after they removed the double jeopardy

Well done Canada. They scored the goals Switzerland missed the other day through their own laziness and stupidity.

Very sorry to hear about what happened to Kone. Poor lad… :frowning:
