It’s a fair comment that Darwin didn’t do much in Uruguay’s opener. It is well within Bielsa’s grasp to adjust his team as he sees fit. Nunez, if he applies himself, can at least be an effective sub if he comes on and gives his all.
I was one of the ones who could just about make a case for Darwin coming back on a free, to give us another forward option if we are going to be light with Ekitike out, and Isak not the most robust to play every game for the duration.
To be fair, his flaws are still there, whatever the price point. So now I think I would rather another option, or even a wide man who can play up front, or even a false nine sort of option with two exciting wingers either side.
I love the idea of Darwin coming in to press and make a nuisance of himself, picking up a few goals, but I suppose overall it’s not the wisest approach. Leave it in the past.
