FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 1)

He as at the point in his career, where his (almost political) stature is more a problem for Portugal. But of course, he has the skill set to score out of very little, but he really has faded as a top player.

Without his great name, I doubt he would start for Portugal these days.

France have top quality at the top of the pitch, but the rest is so so, if you press them and get at their back four you can beat them.

France have top quality all over the pitch, and Lucas Digne of course.

Downpour. Watching out for weather conditions.

Lovely game this, as both teams wants to score goals and a lot of them (Iraq obviously needs to score)

Before the game fans were reminded that umbrellas were allowed on the public transport but could not be brought into the stadium. Now the stands look like a City game

Calm down Kylian.

Lovely bar set by the ref. Both were on the ball, but some refs would have blown the whistle there.

(not thet last Iraqi tackle, that was an obvious free kick, borderline yellow).

That was a freekick on the Iraqi player

That was some tackle to nick the ball from Mbappe.

It raining cats and dogs. Does the stadium leak like Old Toilet?

Omg! It is pouring buckets of rain out there :cloud_with_rain: :umbrella_with_rain_drops:

I do hate when a commentator says “the bar has been set high” in regards to fouls, a foul is a foul simple there is no bar!

Really close to a penalty, but it was clean !

Mmm, there is room for intepretation of quite a lot of tackles and how physical one is allowed to be.

Commentators mentioned that ponchos were handed out.
It can’t be, it’s 'Murica, it has got to cost some moony!

It may not be terrible, but definitely went right over my head.

It wasn’t deep. Poncho is just a traditional South American piece of clothing.

Tourists tends to buy it when they visit etc. The proper ones, not the modern thingies they call ponchos.

Not really, there is no interpretation, apart from cards, that talks about the severity, if you contact the player before getting the ball it is a foul, whether that is a trip, kick or push.

It is a bullshit statement or poor reffing.

Normally both.

What I am enjoying with the refereeing is ignoring a lot of the play acting when some is obviously feigns an injury.
