For me you have to get right into them. Their back 6 is not that good and their midfield is average on the ball. Get right in their faces.

His progression is fascinating. He looked every bit the talented kid who wasn’t quite good enough to make it. He was let go by Chelsea as a teenager after having been there for years. City gave him a try but he only lasted a year there and ended up having to go down as far as Reading for his next shot. But then something clicked there and within about 12 months of arriving there he was playing senior football.

It’s totally normal England would have ignored him. It’s more surprising France had an enough of an eye on him pick up so quickly that something seemed to have clicked with him

Sweden has played a pretty good game, for them. One of the best I have seen them play in years. So I don’t agree that you can say that “this is just Sweden”, because they vary so much. This is a significantly better Sweden than during the qualifiers. But not good enough, obviously.

But I really think France is playing a hell of a game and that is kind of my entire point. They are playing top football.
