FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 2)

This voodoo doctor has done an outstanding job so far, tbf.

Partey is getting booed. They explained the situation for the American viewer.

Edit
They said he had multiple very serious charges hanging over him.
They said the player maintains his innocence (that’s fair to say that).
And they also said that was why he was refused a visa for the game in Canada.

They didn’t hang him or find him guilty, but they did a good job of communicating the seriousness of the situation for Partey. They also mentioned it all happened when he was an Arsenal player (this is a small part of the overall situation, but Arsenal did not cover themselves in glory for retaining a useful player for so long when such serious charges were over him).

It’s a tough situation to explain to Americans as a negative because assaulting women usually lands you a job in the White House thesedays.

Thought he wasn’t allowed a visa and shouldn’t be

That will be a case of cognitive dissonance.

That’s for entry to Canada because he lied on the application.

He was denied entry into Canada for their first game so had to stay in their camp in the US while the rest of the team travelled :grimacing:

How many fouls is Ayew allowed to commit before a yellow?

Bayern might be asking for a refund on this.

Bayern?

Anthony Gordon.

Overall I have to say England are annoying me here. Much less than the sum of their parts, with lots of talent on the bench and back in Blighty.

I’m glad he’s wrapped in cotton wool now for our season, but Rio Ngumoha would light this up if he came on from the bench.

Barca

Finally a shot on target

See I’ve not taken much of an interest.

It’s a super awkward case for sure.
Borderline in many ways. On one hand, he is just charged and not convicted, on the other hand, he is charged for so much that it’s quite bloody ugly…

If England score a couple of goals he’ll be walking home to Ghana.

Anyway, Gordon has been totally anonymous in this and another pointer to his inability to contribute in games where defenses don’t leave any space behind. He isn’t like Madueke on the other side who you can just give the ball to and ask him to run at the FB.

He and Elliott Anderson are completely the wrong selections against a side this compact
