Based on this I think England and Germany have a tough nut to crack if both survive their 32ers - for us it’s likely going to be France , and while I think ours could pull something out of the head, realisticly it should be curtains for us there.
England on the other hand will likely meet Brazil or Japan and I have pretty much the same gut feeling , possible but not likely England survives this.
Japan is notorious for being underestimated at that stage and Brazil is Brazil - if at full strength, with Carlo at the helm, they’re unlikely to open up too much and still have the skill upfront to hurt.
I thought it was a brilliant game both teams going at it and Algeria thanks to Mahrez were close to putting Austria out then Austria equalised last minute to save their skin with 6 goals in the match and cracking goals. Either you didn’t watch it or you are being flippant.
You knows maybe Zeven?
Zeven between Bremen and Hamburg in the “Landkreis” of Rotenburg (Wümme). Thats my hometown. But since almost 12 years, i do lives in the “Kreis” of Minden-Lübbecke in North Rhine-Westphalia. Here lives many fans of both clubs (Bremen and Hamburg).
The Algerians have the easiest opponent with Switzerland. Austria against Spain? Huuuuuuh, aua.
I see the cliche “the real tournament starts now” and then you label how it will pan out.
The jeopardy of third place hasn’t helped but I’m not sure I agree with the CL format being bad. It’s added a fair bit of jeopardy compared to previously when it seemed to be very little.
Anyhow it’s fine by me…
Considering how you expected it play out, Turkey, South Korea , Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia are going home.
We wouldn’t have lost many more names if it had been the top 2
Furious at failing to qualify from the group stage the governing body of Uruguayan soccer, the AUF, has opted to cancel its charter flight set to take players from their base camp in Mexico back to Montevideo, according to reports in the El Pais newspaper and TV network Tenfield. The players and staff have been left to organise their own commercial flights home rather than travelling as a squad.
If the method of travel home from the tournament is now based on performance levels it’s a good job Scots are known for being happy to walk 500 miles and then 500 more
