FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 3)

Our keeper has been covering a lot of distance!

I also feel they will drag Messi out. After all there is a game in Argentina which makes zero sense.

And they still won’t bench him.

3-0 is a bit harsh, but…

But Canada hasn’t been able to help themselves. Have managed to create an abysmal number of chances, despite often having the ball. Lots of play, but a bit too slow, not explosive enough and far from sharp enough.

Morocco deserved this, despite playing a bad game too

All in all, a pretty poor game and particularly given the many fantastic ones we have seen in this world cup

C’mon Belgium.

Ipswich or Coventry?

Morocco have been excellent in this second half on the counter since going ahead

Deserved because Canada haven’t worked their corners and free kicks which is the only way they could score. In fact their corners are one of the most frustrating things I’ve seen.
What a crap referee as well .
Talking of referees the rules seem to have changed for the knock out stages. It’s no better but different.

That’s got to one of the most depressing choices ever offered.

So many players on crutches. :man_facepalming:

I think your analysis is right, but I would also add that a lot of what Canada did and didn’t do is down to their quality, or lack thereof, which shows up against the better teams.

They still could have done better, and it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if they would have scored when they were on top in the first half. But overall few would have had Canada winning that one.

Put some skates on them and they win it easily :joy:

It was a decent World Cup for them. Excellent would have been one more step again, but it wasn’t to be.

Missed the game from Morocco. I saw Ounahi scored.

He plays in Spain and looks quite skilful and clever, was he impressive?

It is still a very massive step forward for Team Canada on the international stage.
Baby step, baby step (massive baby step).

The US coverage of Canada is so weird. It’s clear all the former players they have as analysts have personal issues with him and there is never a segment where they aren’t throwing shade at him. It’s borderline unprofessional and not because they are allowing it to filter into their commentary but because they are being so catty about it.

They’ve gone a step further than many supposed better nations.

Right, taking a break before the France game. Going out into the garden to sit in shade and roast myself. I’m going to smoke a cigar (I do maybe half a dozen a year on holiday weekends) and sip a cocktail with Mrs ROTW.

Over and out. Until France v Paraguay.

Did you know that the use of the word ‘beaver’ to describe part of the female anatomy was due to the rhyming slang expression ‘Belvoir hunt’?
