FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 3)

TSN also brought up the reversal of 3 match ban of CR7 so that he could participate in this WC, which has set the mess that we are seeing now.

It’s certainly eyebrow raising

Belgium might even have a case at CAS. There is no provision for this kind of intervention in the tournament

The best version of our football song:

From Tons of Rock this year.

Our local news covered it and framed it as Trump getting a win for the country on its birthday not realizing that is exactly the wrong framing if they don’t want people to hate it for political influence.

They then clarified that while surprising it isn’t without precedent, citing Ronaldo being able to play in the first two games not realiz8ng that too was corrupt as hell.

Just noticed that the Mexico/England match has been postponed by an hour.

England training staff are putting cones on the pitch. Eh? Not the Scottish fans doing that?

Reporting I’ve seen (think it was the Guardian) said the Whitehouse had three calls in to FIFA since Wednesday, to get the decision overturned.

Belgium would be well within their rights to forfeit the game and withdraw. It would be unsatisfactory for the players, but there is a wider issue at stake for the integrity of the sport.

It would be THE story of the World Cup. Trump corruption hits the beautiful game. It almost feels like a little reckoning could be on the cards.

Mind you, my expectation is the game will be played and a bright American side will prevail against an older Belgium side. Let’s see.

I thought you were going to say the cones were imitations of the Scotland players playing style.

Cones can’t pass to the opposition can they?

Excited for the coming game.

Actually, I think they could appeal to CAS to overturn it.

Ahem…

Do you think CAS would convene and rule, before the game?

I can’t see that, but if they did, great.
