FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 3)

Jesus Christ…was he shot?!

One of the things that has struck me about the US coverage is how in awe of the Azteca the various ex players are at the experience of working there. Seedorf called it his favorite stadium. He played at the San Siro and the Bernabeau remember. He was walking around before the Ecuador game taking selfies of himself in it. Schmichael was just commenting on it being the best atmosphere he was ever experienced and was beaming talking about it like he was a kid at Christmas.

If that was the game that waved goodbye to the Azteca as a world cup stadium it was a game worthy of the stage

Jesus…just read Hendo was stretchered off the pitch.

Hopefully he’s ok and he can at least make the rest of the tournament as a supporter.

I read that Hendo got stretchered off after the injury from celebration. I doubt he will add another family member in 9 months in that case.

Have a quick recovery, Hendo!

Poor bloke is gonna cop it now from the ‘why Hendo?’ chorus line.

Just at the 66min pen check, this is getting out of hand. Mex player stuck his foot in. Gutierrez is at fault there

Yeah it’s was really poor decision by VAR, after it did well to be honest correcting the Quansah foul.

Least it didn’t make any other bizarre calls. I think it demonstrated how it works well and how it doesn’t within a 20 minute period.

I was thinking now where had I seen Craig Hope before well he was the guy who made a fool of himself over Isak last summer and now he’s at the Mail it seems

I was very glad of the one hour delay. Ended the second period class early and treatred the class to the last 20 mins or so of the England game. They all stayed to watch and there was spontaneous applause at the end.

Very dramatic game; just wish I’d seen all of it instead of making do with BBC & Guardian MbM coverage.
England should be able to see off Norway, and then it’s either Argentina or Colombia. Would prefer the latter.

Why does the Mexican player not have the right to have his foot there? Why does Kane get a free pass at clearing the ball without being challenged?

He wound up to kick it, an opposition player nipped in front of him, and Kane kicked him

Just watched the game you cannot argue with that being a red!

Kane pissed me off with falling over looking for non existent fouls

Do you know the game, 1st question the sending off and then question that not being a penalty!

No different from 2 penalties against us one with Robbo and another with Virg.

Just watched the game, exciting stuff, can’t argue with any major decision when applying the letter of the law.

Great result and attitude after going down to 10 men.

Hate to say this but Pickford actually had a good game, nothing that any other keeper wouldn’t have saved but made some good decisions coming for crosses, never thought I would say that, still don’t rate him though.

Did Bellingham get booked, if so a load of bollox as their player rollicked the assistant ref and got nothing.

Well done England onwards and upwards.

Yep, just no different if it is on the floor if a player gets his foot to it first and you kick him, it’s a foul whether there is intent or not.

Agreed on both, Saka did bugger all apart from the 1st goal and was lazy when he gave away the freekick that they scored their 1st from.
