FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 3)

Tim Ream looked like he just escaped from the Pearl Harbour attack with his life!

My only sibling is a naturalised American and many of my cousins were born there. Trying to be diplomatic.

What I am disappointed with is the immaturity of the performance. There is no shame in being KOed by Belgium but going out when you’ve played poorly is a lot harder to live with. It almost felt like they believed their hype and got shaken up when they faced up to a side who wouldn’t comply with the narrative they invented for themselves. Maybe US soccer works better as the underdog and more of these players need to play like there is a chip on their shoulder

ESPN column was talking about Pulisic as one of the top 20 players in the world. He is nowhere close, but I really do think that kind of hype was getting in their heads.

There was never a 50/50 challenge in that match. I feared that if that happened one of the US players would be smashed to bits! They looked physically inferior, to a man.

He’s not even top 20 in the Americas!

He is a useful player, he might make the Top 20 list in Serie A? But he might not.

For the mind.

Let the sensations of this American defeat linger a while longer…

You know he will think of something else to make himself news in the next day or so. In between saying he’s opened the strait of Hormuz

Belgium’s captain, Youri Tielemans, said the Balogun controversy had helped motivate his team.

“Let’s be honest: we held a meeting when we heard the news,” Tielemans said after Monday’s game. “We told ourselves we needed to do our talking on the pitch. That’s what we did today. I’m very proud of the team.”

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said the team had faced a “lack of respect” in the US over the last few days.

Manager Rudi Garcia, however, played down the row when asked if it had fuelled his players.

“No, it wasn’t needed or necessary … what really mattered to us is our gameplan,” he said, adding that he had spoken ‌with Balogun after the final whistle. “He came to talk to me, I really like that. … It’s not his fault, he’s not the one to blame and that’s what I told him.”

The Belgian game plan was as it should be. Absurd to suggest they should refuse to play the game in protest. I’m not excusing the overturning of the suspension, but from the perspective of the Belgium team; it’s Folarin Balogun - who cares?

Great news to wake up to, justice served.

Stick to rounders, moonshine and hillbilly handfishing, you have no fucking business hosting a football World Cup.

I fell asleep during the Spain-Portugal game and had to get up at 5, so was pleased to see the results.

Belgium haven’t so much defeated the USA as given them a punishment beating.

Do you think the orange sex pest will still turn up for the final? With it being the 250th anniversary of the country, maybe we could give him a birthday present: the bumps.
