So this is the opposition we will face after we have sent England packing. Hmm…
Macca is having a hell of a match playing so far up front
There is Columbia or Swiss… though you are talking like the English.
Simeone in the Argentina shirt will make sure you are routing for Egypt if you weren’t already.
Oh my god Allah, what a save
World class goal keeping atm
No, Norway or England will face the winner of Argentina vs Egypt. Pretty sure on that.
Got to say, if we get past England, which is not impossible, we actually have a shot at a final. And when we are there, eh, that’s just maybe France to beat. No big deal !
Great save. Decent game this.
I thought that equalizer was a certainty
I’m not saying you don’t have a chance, I’m just saying it’s the arrogance I expect from England fan. Personally as a Liverpool fan I never count the chickens before they hatch.
I am just joking. I have no expectations, but it’s fun to say shit sometimes
In fairness to Norway, they should be allowed to dream,…england tell us every 2 years they are going to win before a ball has been kicked in major tournaments
You mentioned Pulisic, McKennie, and Weah. Other than them:
Tyler Adams starts for Bournemouth
Antonee Robinson starts for Fulham
Flo Balogun starts for Monaco
Chris Richards starts for Crystal Palace
Brendan Aaronson started for Leeds
Malik Tillman started about half of his matches at Leverkusen and PSV.
Sergino Dest starts for PSV
Ricardo Pepi also started about half the time for PSV
And there are others who play in European sides.
No one can reasonably compare the talent of the 2002 side to the present side. The program is taking big steps forward. But of course, they’re still levels below the elite national teams. As it should be - it takes generations to develop a powerhouse team. The US is working towards it, and I’m pleased that they’re pushing their best players to play in the most competitive leagues instead of in the shitty MLS.
Romero is such a dirty shite
The Argentinians players are doing Paraguay like antics!
MLS isn’t a bad league probably comparable to the Championship maybe a bit less.
When this England squad was announced it was decried as being one of the weakest ever and fans were accusing the German manager of deliberately trying to sabotage their chances - if Norway don’t beat them they should row home in disgrace ![]()
10 games in 2 for the Fulham of 2002 is a mark of quality. 200 games in 6 years for Juve is downplayed because Juve arent very good at the moment. Its incoherent.
It is entirely subjective to compare the quality of the respective sides, so opinion may vary. But as I already said it is incredibly generous to try to portray that side as one that had a comparable level of top European club experience as this one. That was an MLS based team with a small smattering of players who had experience in Europe and fewer of those whose time had been a success with them establishing themselves as good enough there. The idea the side of 2002 would have the luxury to leave someone with the experience of Aaronson on the bench is laughable.
The punditry though is equivalent to the bbc 1940’s to 50’s…complete shite .
But would you say they underachieved? I don’t think they really did.
