FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 4)

That’s like a desperate manc asking how many Charity Shields Liverpool have

Against Egypt a very accurate cross from Messi allowed Martinez to score the winner and the same thing happened against England where he scored a header from a Messi cross.

That was absolutely unnecessary.

That’s prick behavior.

Ah I love Bellingham

He’s got heart.

For sure they said something before he went over.

Yes Argentina are very bad losers but are even less magnanimous in winning.

Not if it’s Munoz

Did I just see Harry Kane, who scored over 60 goals this season, described as “over the hill”.

Enough internet for today.

That’s the theory of the case. But there’s a flip side. One where those players offer less defensive protection and you get weaker not stronger.

What is more, none of those players have offered much in the tournament. Saka for one isn’t fully fit.

People that say that he didn’t have an outlet forget that he still had Rogers and Spence who’s his two way player.

Third place? Does anyone care? Arguably if you are in a smaller nation forging new ground, third place might bring some bragging rights.

For France and England I just see two squads who want to get out of there now, go on their holibobs, and then report back to their clubs for preseason.

The third place playoff just prolongs the agony. Neither made it to the final, so the race is run. The third place game just seems like a commercial thing, but surely high level players will want nothing to do with it?

I see the respective squads being used, and the game being played with a collective shoulder shrug.

Yeah for me Anderson does the right thing in coming across. The issue is you’ve got 8 England defenders right around the 6 yard box marking 3 Argentinian attackers.

Obviously didn’t do a good job :squinting_face_with_tongue:

My analysis.

England lost when they went into their shell and went 100% defense. It was writing on the wall when they equalized, and it was written in permanent marker when the subs were defensive. It should have been like for like in order to keep some momentum.

While Kane might be an extremely effective finisher, he has a terrible habit of dropping deep. I don’t see any value in him doing that as the only striker. England’s midfield is probably the strongest in the WC, so no need for your only striker to drop into midfield to get the ball.

That’s on Tuchel. Tommy T really fucked it up bad.

At some point , you’ll have to wonder if a German does want the english football team to win anything.

Well all the English men (bar one) before him did really well…

I was critical of him for much of the first half for doing that. But he kept doing the same thing in the 2nd, even more after the Tuchel-turtle. I have to think that he was following instructions.

If that’s his instructions then the coach doesn’t have a clue.

He does it at club level but both wide men he has with him are far superior to what England have in the end product category.

Of course Tuchel cares. If he finishes 3rd, he will thick skinnedly stay because “I single handledly brought us to the best finish since 1966 and we look forward to 2030”

Why can’t football rivalries just remain as football rivalries. The fate of Falklands surely is a political issue and not resolved on a football field?
