FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 4)

It’s the @Dalglish Mo-Salah method; say it early say it consistently and you will (eventually) be right. In fairness to Harry he had a poor game but I don’t think it was his age that contributed. I also don’t think he’s as good as 60 goals (primarily against minor teams in the BL) suggests but of course he’s going to remain central to the setup at least into next season. Never captain material, mind.

Most expensive perhaps. Not sure the english ‘midfield’ held up to well across the tournament and Spain look significantly stronger.

Gloating aside, England did what England always do.
Allow themselves to buy into the media and pundits over hyping of their quality and chances of bringing it home.
Weak group, got through as expected.
Unconvincing performances against Ghana & DR Congo.
Did well against Mexico.
Lucky to beat Norway.
Outclassed against the first top tier side they faced.

I’m very sanguine about England in almost any competition but I don’t think they were ‘outclassed’ by Argentina. They were poor after going ahead but that was tactical and really should have won the game which obviously makes it all the sweeter for those like yourself wanting them to lose. If a semi finalist was ‘outclassed’ it was France who (also have a tactical out, they were far too open) didn’t lay a glove on Spain.

If I were the FA, I would be asking Tuchel for my money back. By keeping Southgate, they would have got the same result for a fraction of the money they are paying Tuchel.

This was a bottle job that will go down in history.

Don’t know why Southgate would be paid less. If a foreign manager doesn’t want the job because the (presumably still very lucrative) salary isn’t sufficient then they’re likely to have the wrong mindset. Tuchel doesn’t even have the CV that said he was clearly a cut above to generate a bumper pay claim. I doubt the German FA have gotten Klopp solely because they’ve offered him a certain salary - he’s highly motivated to take the job anyway.

I’m not sure if you are seriously asking that question, but it’s always been that way. Just look at the history of the world cup and you’ll see how national political rivalries have spilled into the sporting arena, not just football, by the way, every international sport has experienced this phenomenon, even chess. It’s inevitable and it’s extreme naivety to expect otherwise.

Argentina had 88% possession after Gordons goal.
It was all front foot attacking football, England just couldn’t cope with it.
They hit the post twice and Pickford made at least 2 very good saves.
Total domination

Haaland finally cut his pony-tail of then…

Bravo Piers

I am so sad that England went out. I hoped we had a chance when France were knocked out.

So proud of our England boys and the manager for taking us so far. They tried their best. They need our support right now, not a telling off.
Not switching on radio till saturday night.

On a lighter note. I hope Spain clobber Argentina in the final. I am Spanish on Sunday.

It wasn’t after the game though, was it Tommy? Millions of armchair coaches were calling out this bullshit while you were doing it.

But Dan Burns went up the field? Genius move.

He showed he is a petulant fuck with his girly slap. Heart should be on the pitch, not like a sore little prick loser when its over.

Thankfully she was upstairs when Argentina scored their 2nd.
Dog got a but of a fright though.

I retired to bed and left her with her glass of wine.
