To be honest I am a little checked out of football in general really. I still follow us mainly as love of the club.
Ruined by money, over saturation and over analysis. I wonder if that´s common.
Feels like there is no personality in the game. I remember when Jamaica qualified for France 1998 and the feature on the Reggae Boys felt so refreshing.
I think there is in fact less excitement than usual. For some Cups, fans would travel without tickets or expectation of them, just to be a part of it. I can guarantee that is not happening to anywhere near the same extent. Hotel room sales in most of the American venue cities are far below projections, and crowds are probably going to be skewed toward locals much more than usual.
Surely we can all put aside the corruption, scandal, political concerns, Americanisation, drinks breaks, price gouging, VAR, rule changes and negative news stories about authoritarian border checks once the prospect of watching Iran Vs New Zealand at 2am on a work day comes around …
The NYPD’s handling of the aggro at these Knicks watch-parties across the city doesn’t inspire much confidence, but I suppose you need people to actually show up in order for things to kick off.
Very true. Also a “bum bag” in Scotland would be a bag warn around the waist. To an American, this would probably indicate a receptacle for a homeless person’s belongings.
The American phrase for that would, of course, be a fanny-pack, which in Scotland is either a large group of idiots or a treatment for thrush.
The White House has responded to reports that FIFA World Cup referee Omar Artan was denied entry to the United States.
A spokesperson said that after further inspection by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, information was uncovered that allegedly linked Artan to individuals suspected of involvement with terrorist organisations, making him ineligible for entry under U.S. immigration law.
The statement added: “President Trump’s administration will not allow any security threat to enter our country. Full stop.”
However you wouldn’t know these terrorists as they go to another school
