Fully expect Australia to reach the k.o. stage. They are a good football nation (27th in the current FIFA ranking) and deserve to be here.

His fans talk a lot about his aura and so on. I wouldn’t have had a problem if he hadn’t come back—Baumann did a good job. But yeah, he’s here now, so what can you do? The main thing is that his calf holds up.

32 teams qualified in 2022.
Curaçao could have squeezed in as they were the best NA qualifiers so even if you’d just made the US qualifiers they would have easily made it and probably would have even if you had Mexico and Canada qualifying via the qualifying route.
Jamaica were qualifiers several years ago. You can drop it to 16 teams if you wish but then you’d be removing teams who have come on such as Morroco.
It’s always been the case, there is just more.

To be fair, it was a pretty weird sequence of events. First, CONCACAF qualifying was very strange taking three teams that had qualified for 2022 out of the mix (the 3 hosts). They then somehow managed to get the softest 2nd round group (which they won), then in the 3rd round pulled off a definitive win over Jamaica - a team which usually steamrolls most of the Caribbean.
They will be very unlikely to get out of a 2nd round group where Canada, US, and Mexico are seeded into the 2nd round.
