FIFA World Cup: Qatar 2022

This “rent a fan thing” was probably inspired by Manchester City, or maybe even Russia :joy:

That’s hilarious tbf

I’d say Russia.

Man City can’t even rent fans

I’d say either Terrier or Diaby.

Replace him?

They’ve got Benz Mbappe Greizmann Giroud Dembele Coman and Thuram for 3 spots (which will obviously be the former 3)

I wonder who’ll beat us. Germany or Argentina? Jnr really excited for it. I can just see the pain that’s coming. Gary Linekar’s quote, football is a game where 22 people play football then the Germans win on penalties.

I’ll still get stupidly excited regardless of the venue.

The Italia 90 series on Sky right now is excellent. Second episode raised an interesting point. If we had a UK team now, how many players would makes the starting 11 (besides Robo) who aren’t English?

Joe Allen.

no. ive seen this POV elsewhere, but it makes no sense…the only way it makes sense is if Islam existed in a bubble…and it doesnt, or else Qatar wouldnt be motivated to host the world cup…the FACT is, its NOT the middle ages anymore…

They aren’t the first to do this. Remember the world cup in South Korea and Japan? They did the same at the time, drilling parts of their population to ‘support’ different national teams.

It was obviously a complete fake, and I for one found this disgusting at the time. Now, it’s the same, only taken to yet another level of ridicule.

Weely?

One of the UK sports journalists came on the radio this morning and interviewed the expat English fans, they are from Kerala, they showed they were genuine England fans. They watch EPL, they know all the players, team and were very knowledgeable and knew about Ronaldo.

So, there are some genuine football fans who love football, but in their country, football is not the main sport. I think they deserve more credit than we are giving them.

I’ll probably end up using it as background noise I did think about just watching the BBC as that doesn’t carry adverts.

is anyone even the slightest bit surprised?

Looking at this disgusting episode, I really hope that Qatar will get a 6 nil pounding handed to them by all their three opponents, starting with Ecuador. Just to teach them some fucking humility.

Then you might be interested in this. Number three.

To be honest, the corruption in FIFA is so bad, I half wouldn’t mind a breakaway super league of greedy clubs. At least they are transparent in their greed, and thus can be called into question and straightened out. If this video is accurate, FIFA has its hands in so many governments’ pockets that it is not even about football any more. No wonder the sport is in such a state. What else would happen when the governing body itself is so thoroughly sickened.

I blame FIFA for holding it there in the first place. Also, the Interior Qatari ministry for not briefing and preparingtheir people that a gigantic World Tournament is going to be held there and the World’s press will be watching them.

The powers that be did not do their research properly. Qatar is generally a Conservative society, but not as strict as the Saudis. The general Qatari public are good and helpful people, from the experiences i had living there.
Seeing Qatar at the centre stage, they are not used to this kind of exposure.

I am impressed, as it got my attention right till the end and the CGI are fantastic. I thought all the main older ballers looked real. Nike are so good at marketing their products and football.

Still, my favourite advert is the 1998 Airport one, with Brazilian national team.
