Infantino opened by saying: “Today I have strong feelings. Today I feel Qatari, I feel Arab, I feel African, I feel gay, I feel disabled, I feel a migrant worker.” He’s slagging off the West for its hypocrisy, it sez 'ere …
Majestic Qatar is now hosting a FIFA World Cup. A country with a rich football tradition, open and welcoming to all people of all colors, sexual orientation and nationality. Ideal climate as well. I mean notwithstanding that none of the above is true. And the inconvienent fact that they treated migrant workers as slaves killing approximately 6,500 of them. But none that of that matters to Infantino. The insolent prick goes on an hour-long tirade moving the goalposts and whatabouting. Reddy put him in his place.
Klopp was spot on as usual when he went off against that journalist asking him about it. They really should have done more. Quite frankly, the whole football world should have done more. The idea was so preposterous, it should have never gone ahead. FIFA and UEFA require legal oversight. Enough is enough. And Infantino and his clan need to get fucked.
What beats the shit out of me is how people seem to have just forgotten / ignored how this bid got awarded in the first place. I thought when Blatter and Platini were brought to trial this year that the whole thing was about to get a re-examination. But no , nothing to see here , no need to go into all that again. And then , even more unbelievably , they were both acquited.
He’s using textbook whataboutism and tactics of weaponising liberal values against itself. Just look at the way he would do a sly quick smirk after accusing people of being racists for raising questions.
He’s setting himself up as he is a bastion of moral virtue and anyone who dares utter an word is on the side of evil.
It’s an affront to all those deaths when he opens by saying he is a migrant worker, etc.
Interestingly it is workers of certain races that have made up the vast bulk of dead and abused workers. There are very few white Europeans amongst those numbers. Apparently pointing this out is racist.
Unfortunately the words bounce of Infantinos head with little impact. Theres been years of criticism and theyve just pushed ahead with their eye on one thing and one thing only.
What would be monumental if for a player at the world cup, preferably one of the bigger nations, to say “I’m coming out as gay, just try and throw me off a roof”
Would be on par with the black power salute from '68.
