Because this thing is a fucking joke and gutter are a disgrace. Getting behind it because you lived there as a child or whatever just makes you another sportswashing convert and you may as well fuck off and support cheaty or sandcastle.
At their own risk sure, the real question here is why would you go if you knew of their stance surrounding the matter? Unless you have the rebellous mindset that âOk I know this country is against what I stand for and who I am as a person but you know what, fuck it Iâm going anyway.â I know people within the LGBT community, if asked Iâd advise them not to go.
The problem here isnât with Qatar, itâs with a whole regime. Weâre talking hundreds of millions of people not just the few million in 1 country.
No need to swear at me . I am not condoning Qatarâs govt policies, but just blaming ONLY Qatar only is unfair in my view, Platini then a FIFA official gave his votes to Qatar, he should have given it to USA. Blame FIFA
No, I wonât fuck off, I support Liverpool all my life until I am in my grave,
I forgot The almighty West are holier than though than the rest of the world,

Itâs not linked, politics is politics and sport is sport. Different figureheads, one doesnât account for the other.

Then stop apologising and promoting the gutter world cup. If you are a sportswasher then you know where to find the teams that fit with your sensibilities
Blithely ignoring the point.
You, as in you donât get to tell anyone what they can or cannot discuss.
This shite of focus on the football might suit you, but its a bit more complex than that.

I am not a sports washer, and I donât work for the BBC, FIFA, Al Jazeera or BEIN sports. I am just seeing it from a view which I think is abit unfair that is all.
This thread was created on the basis of discussing the build up to the World Cup as well as the games being played for the duration of the tournament yet people instead want to use it to condemn everything thatâs wrong with Qatar like itâs the worst place on earth and all Qatariâs are evil etc etc.
The same Western world that love to sit back and watch let it happen, never offering to help. The UK has far more problems than Qatar does, do you think Qatar come to a World Cup in England telling us whats wrong with our country?
More fucking stupid generalisations.
The Man City thread, should we just discuss Peps tactics? Or are we able to talk about sportswashing and corruption?
The Newcastle thread? Same questionâŚ
You know fuck all about peoples motives for discussion, so maybe quit the wannabee Mod instructionsâŚ

I still find this hard to believe, that everyone gave in to FIFA on this. That should have been the last straw
This World Cup has made us all argumentative horrible to each other.
I feel really sad.
What has happened to the beautiful game we love so much? Football is supposed to have no bounderies and bring people together despite our political, ideological and religious differences.

If it wasnât in Qatar, theyâd never come to ANY World Cup. Thatâs the fucking point. You want to talk just football? Fine. Why the blazes is the World Cup happening in winter?
If a country canât host it during summer it should AUTOMATICALLY be disqualified.

Wait WHAT?! Do you think the Oil states have bought City, PSG, and Newcastle because theyâre interested in football??

Because of the climate, no? Qatar wouldnât have had a problem hosting it in JuneâŚit was Fifa who moved it to winter after prolonged discussion with the various confederations.
In truth Qatar usually wouldnât qualify for the World Cup but they sure would travel to any host nation if they didâŚDidnât Saudi travel to Russia for the last World Cup? & everyone would be saying the exact same thing now if they were the ones hosting it instead.
OK, Iâm going full devilâs advocate here.
FIFA are utterly and 100% to blame here. Deaths aside (thereâs a phrase I never thought Iâd use) if you place the world cup in a country thatâs stuck in the moral middle ages, what do you expect? Quatar have the right to be goverened as they see fit. Dress code, alcohol, behaviour etc, why should they be forced to embrace western ideals? Weâre going to them and we all know the phrase âwhen in Romeâ Utter shit houses they might be but FIFA knew that and only went there for the ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ.
Religion is almost universally poisonous and Iâm VERY happy to argue this publicly. But in this case, blame the people who placed the World Cup in hell, donât blame the devil.

@maria As you are so unhappy with the BBC coverage providing some context, you should move over to foxsports where they have been paid for full sportswashing of your beloved gutter 22:
Really? When did these âprolonged discussionsâ happen pray tell? This was a wholly unilateral decision by FIFA. They should have pulled the plug on it straight away.
FIFA basically told everyone to play or theyâd be banned from international football and nobody stood up to them with enough unity or force.
You donât move the timing biggest sports tournament on Earth because of something about these undeserving hosts everyone already knew from the beginning.

Iâm slightly surprised anyone wants to watch an opening ceremony to be honest, they are usually bloody awful.
BBC did the same last time out to be fair, I didnât want so Iâm not sure if it was promoted but theyâve done it for the Olympics and theyâve done it in the Euros and the Russian World Cup.
I do agree with the point on Russia and I do think that was far more but it meant FIFA knew they could do it. Remember the west were pandering to Putin.
