Berghuis is more of a midfielder these days, but yeah, it’s pretty offensive.
Holland usually deploy another proper CM alongside Frenkie in De Roon or Koopmeiners. Gini if he was fit also.

Yeah I’m surprised 1 of those 2 didn’t start alongside Frenkie, Only other thing I can see is Ake LB and Blind in midfield.
Think this could be a tough afternoon for the Dutch, Frenkie could be badly outnumbered.
Are we sure its 5 at the back? Could Ake be LB with Blind playing as a holding mid alongside De Jong?
I much prefer the good old fashioned physical tickets.

No it is 5 in the back. He is playing that system for a while now. Delay is the passer from the CB position. They used to play with 4 defenders but that same Delay is such a weak defender, too short and slow he changed it to 5 in the back.

So with Ake, De Ligt and Virgil in the side as well, is Ake LB/LWB?
I think it’s Blind at LWB, but playing more as a passer than a runner, with Gakpo ahead of him playing a bit wider. Dumfries going more up and down on the right.

Netherlands in great form heading into this tournament, Van Gaal must be doing a great job because on paper that team doesn’t look that impressive at all really.
