FIFA World Cup: Qatar 2022

I would say that relying on a massive win against a team you need to pull off an upset in one of their games qualifies as ‘real trouble’. Only Chile in 1998 has ever advanced with 3 points.

The radio commentator said there were many empty seats at the start of the match.

This World Cup is overpriced.
My neighbour has gone to Doha to watch England. He stayed only 2 nights. It is cheaper to stay in Abu Dhabi, where it is £49 per night, instead of £200 plus a night in Doha.

Yes but it’s still possible as you correctly pointed out :innocent:

Going by what we’ve seen already is Costa Rica beating Japan much of an upset?

£49 a night??!?!

Fucking more expensive staying 2 nights at the Adelphi in Liverpool & that’s a proper shit hole.

Of course, if Costa Rica were to now upset Spain, that group would be nuts, possibly down to the last minute for both spots.

Spain 1-0, Olmo.

Spain have looked bright here.

Probably too young to be winners but might surprise more than expected.

Germany stumbling out of the gate is going to take a lot of pressure off a young team in what looked like an unforgiving group for them. With this early goal, they can start to grow into the way they want to play and build some momentum.

You mean Germany stumbling out of the gate and falling face-first into a muddy puddle

I have not watched much of Japan, but have seen a fair amount of Costa Rica having watched quite a bit of CONCACAF qualifying. I don’t see the Ticos threatening Japan much, they have tended to do better in a more open game.

Yup, allows them to even potentially take a draw in that second match if they win comfortably here then all the pressure is on Germany as I don’t think Japan is a bad side and it has enough to beat CR I would feel though I haven’t a clue about this CR side.

2-0 Spain!!

Spain :es: 2–0

That’s poor keeping.

Costa Rica just allowing them far too much space.

I am secretly hoping we would go after Asensio to see if we could turn him into a #8. Bosman in June.

I think he is a Klopp type player

They are in an odd place as a team. Fired their coach about 18 months ago when qualifying wasn’t going well, and started to play better defence. But they don’t seem to like the more controlled pace of play that would go along with that. He has done a good job, they turned it on late to make this WC, but I am not quite sure what he is trying to do.

Take the beer from Iran’s hands to be named the worst nation at the WC?

Penalty spain, 3-0 torres.

Well that wasn’t fucking silly at all was it?
