FIFA World Cup: Qatar 2022

Far too easy 4-0 torres

It’s 4

it’s borderline disgraceful defending.

But Costa Rica can breathe a bit easier now that Morata’s coming on.

We are also in a cost of living crisis and those countries around it are resource rich but nation and social building they are not in general.

Yeah, Costa Rica often punch above their weight. Seems not this year.

I think the big advantage they have is his bloody mindedness. this is not a side many managers would put out. Each player individually you might accept, but the combination of them is unexpected. It’s clearly a decision to ignore names and popularity in favour of balance and I think it takes a lot balls to go so firmly down that path.

They are also not relying on Morata.

I think that was their problem in recent years.

Cost of living crisis is a good point too.

If they are trying to buy goodwill, helping with the costs could have been an easy gesture. It would be nothing for Qatar to greatly subsidize match tickets, hotels, and also food and drink.

Sure. I mean it’s a lot easier to justify not playing a striker when the best real one you have is Morata

Exactly

I wasn’t saying he was good by the way, I remember him missing a hatful last summer.

David De Gea must be watching this and thinking he could have got a clean sheet!

Seems like that was what they wanted to do but then reversed it for some reason.

Starting to resemble Wembley at half time but throughout the entire match.

I think this might be the worst display of the lot.

If Japan don’t beat them I’d be shocked which opens up the group completely.

5–0, last time spain scored 5 it was 1998

Lovely finish by Gavi :slightly_smiling_face:

Love how that CR player just moved his leg slightly and then went fuck it

Thats crazy. Still need to see what Spain look like against a better defence and goalkeeper, but this mix of players Enrique has brought look the real deal. I can almost understand why no Thiago. He just wouldn’t be on the same wavelength as the team that played first half.

Yeah Spain v Germany will be interesting.

Navas needs to be looked at here.

Good thing is it actually has stuff riding on it unlike just who tops the group.
