I’m for a new flag, so long as it doesn’t feature a boomerang, a kangaroo or any other stupid Australian cliché. Also, not an abomination where they try to mix two different flags together in a split design (aboriginal flag in the place where the UJ used to be). It needs to be simple and thoughtful. Most of the designs so far haven’t strayed from the norm too much, which is disappointing.
I actually like the look of the golden wattle design creating the hidden 7 pointed star in the middle but not as a national flag. It’s far too graphic design-y and makes me think of some agricultural product. Maybe sunflower oil. Also due to catering to forming the 7 pointed star, it’s ventured too far away from looking like a golden wattle. But it has the yellow and that dark, rich green which I think are the two colours that need to form the next flag. Fuck off blue, red and white which is not associated to anything in Aus.
Would prefer that dark green, with just the 7 pointed star plus Southern Cross in yellow over any of the other mishmash flags they’ve come up with so far.

Without any of red, white or blue it would become only the second country to have a national flag without any of those colours. Currently the only one is…?
