Not true. You create these threads every season and only occasionally we have some forgettable ones.
I’ve been very pleased with what I’ve seen from Wirtz. I was a bit concerned that he’d impacted negatively by the less-possession-based, more direct system Iraola is bringing. But he looks like he’s adapted to it and it’ll help him become more aggressive in the final third.

I want to see a lot more cutting edge from him. Quick feet to get away from markers, turning forward not just bouncing it back to the midfielders, and especially clever passing to create chances. That vision most players don´t have. Thats what we bought him for.
He has this in his locker but we haven´t seen it for a while I think. Confidence dipped near the end of the season for sure. Big season for him. Iraola being Spanish and growing up with a lot of players like this may likely help. He will know all about his talents.

“I’m reading comments here about what Wirtz needs and how he should be used to make him perform. It’s all rubbish! He’s had over a year. Yet he hasn’t come anywhere near matching his ‘performances’ from the Bundesliga. Which, in my opinion, are modest anyway. He had around 20 goals in the Bundesliga. For an attacking player who wins the league and the cup and even reaches the European final, that’s absolutely average!
For once, I agree with Carragher. A 110 million player!? He HAS to deliver! There are plenty of examples who’ve gone before him and proved it.
The most overrated player of the 21st century. And thankfully, Bayern didn’t let themselves be taken for a ride back then!

Was watching this last night of his season for us. Clearly he was doing it to an extent but near the end of the season his confidence seemed to nose dive and he stopped. But we can see he is capable of at least much better than we have seen for 6 months.
I want to see him back with that confidence to try things and doing it every game.

But if he does not improve by winter then something must be done.
Something must be done now. We have to set up to get the best out of him. Otherwise no point playing him.
Also worth noting he´s 23. De Bruyne was 21/22 at Chelsea when deemed not good enough and then came back aged about 25 at Man City I think. For a 10 he is very young.

He´s younger than Silva when he joined City and De Bruyne when he was deemed good enough to return to the PL
He´s not a kid or quite very young but he is still pretty young for a number 10 and likely well before his prime. Ozil was this age when he went to Madrid, Mata same age to Chelsea, Bruno Fernandes aged 26 to Utd.
