Not the alcohol…blame the weed

I don’t think there’s any evidence that relaxing cannabis laws leads to higher rates of mental illness. I’m sure we have a boffin who can enlighten us.
Pushing it underground leads to the creation of super strength skunk varieties which do cause harm though.

It’s been underground for centuries. Making it legal makes it good for government taxes but bad for the private growers.

It’s debatable.

I have heard it from multiple first hand sources that there is a strong correlation between canabis use and mental health disorders (also alcohol use for that matter) but establishing causation is more difficult.

That is to say that it is difficult to determine whether someone who starts taking drugs already has a significant mental disorder or not before taking substances or whether those substances make it worse.

It’s a bit like excessive drinking being a marker for depression or anxiety. However the drinking almost certainly makes the condition harder to treat.

Is she the one of those that tried an armed robbery a few years ago? Apparently the RAF are all getting on a bit and need a pension plan.

That’s gobsmacking. The complete lack of understanding of the situation beggars belief.

Were Hamburgers invented in Hamburg ?

Google is a new invention that helps you answer questions. Why not try it out?

“According to the Food Lovers Companion, The name “hamburger” comes from the seaport town of Hamburg, Germany, where it is thought that 19th-century sailors brought back the idea of raw shredded beef (known today as beef tartare) after trading with the Baltic provinces of Russia. Some anonymous German chef decided to cook the beef. The hamburger made its first United States appearance at the St. Louis Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904. The hamburger is one of America’s favorite foods. It consists of a cooked patty of ground beef sandwiched between two bread halves, usually in the form of a round bun.”

Yeah , didn’t answer my question though ?

Were hamburgers named after the town or were they invented in Hamburg ?

Both

Already have tix at Leipzig v Wolfsburg. Will check the dates wifey has scheduled in Hamburg but good advice cheers

Whenever we have been there it is usually to visit friends so we tend to end up in the non-touristy bits. I do intend to have a look around the Reeperbahn at some point which was where The Beatles played many of their early gigs although it does still have a reputation for being a bit seedy. It rather depends on what you want to do. There’s lots of theatres and a big opera house if you are into that sort of thing.

Everyone goes to the Reeperbahn, but it’s seedy and tacky to be honest. St Pauli does have some great bars off the beaten track though, just get away from the ogling hordes.
A harbour boat tour is interesting, and if you’re into highbrow stuff, the opera house is supposed to be amazing.
It’s a nice city. The most ‘British’ place in Germany. You can see why the Beatles felt at home there.
