To Inter apparently.

We’re making moves, plenty of moves. Always had a soft spot for Romano me.

Not the most reliable Italian source but they think it could be sorted pronto

Cue us buying 2 new CBs and Gomez storming back to fitness, ousting Ibou from the team and having his best season ever.

Leoni does look a bit like Wirtz brother :joy:

Bit of player analysis here:

This seems revealing:

He looks like a smart defender! Tall too! This window is seriously beyond a fanboy’s wet dream!

Quansah was going to get enough games for his development but a kid who’s even younger will.

Liverpool part starts 4.14 min (Guehi) 4.51min. (Leoni)

So that’s why we are keeping Chiesa. He can welcome in this guy, help him settle and then get minutes elsewhere in time for the world cup…

He looks like a bit of a unit.

Sign him up. And Guehi. And Isak.

He’s a unit, strong, good pace, good in the air, good on the ball. Heck of a lot to like. Young age and inexperienced at our level though, so exciting as he looks, he has to be viewed as a prospect.

If we want him now, rather than keeping him at Parma for another year, then it might suggest the long-term succession planning will be in place for Konate/VVD. Give Leoni that exposure in training to top players, and learn from the best. I’d rather keep him at Parma for another year, but I can see the benefits of having him here as well.

Where would that leave Gomez? I’d rather we had VVD/Konate/Guehi as our three primary centre-backs, with Leoni as our fourth, so he still receives game time during his development. Or maybe he’ll be our fourth choice CB while Leoni develops behind the scenes. I guess it depends on whether we trust his body, or if we’re wanting to accelerate our development quickly with Leoni, and he’ll just be a squad floater.

Like I said in an earlier post, I think Gomez has reached the point of being a nice-to-have rather than someone we really plan around in the squad depth chart.

Makes sense to bring in Leoni in straight away to be around the squad and acclimatise to the league. See if he can earn some playing time.

One interesting thing in the Lynch video above is that, while Leoni is undoubtedly primarily a CB, some 10% of his appearances have actually come at RB.

Which makes me wonder if Slot may use him (this season at least) in a similar way to Quansah - coming on late on to help shut down a game, as a more defensive option than either Bradley or Frimpong.

Why is it that every time I see this thread name come up I keep thinking it is about the American actress, TĆ©a Leoni? I can’t even remember what I used to watch her in. I think she was married to the X-Files guy at some point.

Anyway, this looks like a good long-term improvement to the CB. Let’s get him in.

I haven’t seen a second of him but the reports are rather promising. Joyce makes a point about Liverpool trying and failing to recruit a young centre back for a few years now, so it would be great if Leoni really grows into The Chosen One should he come to Liverpool. Centre back department hasn’t really been invested into since Konate’s arrival - and if you take him out of the equation, the only meaningful signing that was made in that area was Van Dijk, seven and a half years ago.
