Me too, fully agreed, its the blend Im after with a distorted guitar signal then you weave in the synth to the right amount to add strangeness.
here’s thought. What about the guitar Matt Belamy uses (Muse). He uses a Manson MB-1. It has some kind of pad thingy behind the bridge he uses to get some really weird tones and feedback stuff.
He does, good point, and if I am not mistaken it is a Korg Chaos pad. Slightly different thing.
Fkc it Im selling everything!
Just watched a quick video of his rig… gees where to start.
Yes it’s a Kaoss pad (whatever that is) but his guitars will also have an in built pedal effect such as sustain, fuzz, or something that he controls on the guitar itself. Then there’s the 4 heads, huge tray of effects pedals, various wireless system for each guitar and a re routing system that allows his tech to switch where various pedals appear in the chain. He even plays a piano through the same rig. Then there’s an on stage amp which he will use to get feedback etc. and the on stage effects switches. There’s also back stage switches which his tech uses most of the time leaving him free.
I’d need a mortgage to get anywhere near that.
Ahem
I know it is mind-boggling and probably outside of what I need, its just in case I turn pro
Although the guitar pedal switcher, the GigRig, I am told, is worth every penny. It was designed by an Ausi who lives in Bristol, one half of That Pedal Show. Here is an interesting video on him fitting out Ed O’Brien from Radiohead.
This may stop you replying for half an hour
Please see post above!!!
I’ll watch shortly but I’ve also been watching a fait bit of Chris Buck’s stuff of late and was honestly surprised to see how many pedals he has. Admittedly a far simpler rig but still a lot of pedals. This is a guy who has a very sooth blues type tone but he still changes it as he needs to.
Darn it he also loves Tele’s (and Strat’s and Revstars)
Very nice but no midi, and thank fck, cannot afford it at the moment! I have only seen one midi deluxe for sale, and it was a giveaway at £1600 but was not the best colour, silver, and I think it was actually a standard not a deluxe.
My head is spinning, lets talk about your next purchase.
That’s easy. I need everything…
@Noo_Noo - Les Paul Gold Top
Na, too much bling. I’ll have a word with Kirk. He’ll sell me ole Greeny I’m sure.
Come to think of it if I did have that guitar it might never see the light of day again. I’d be scared stupid of putting my dirty paws on such an instrument with a history like that one.
I was out off by the gold first time I saw them and didnt understand it was all about the P90.
There some ridiculous values on some guitars, I had heard of this one before, its Bernie Marsden of Whitesnake.
Pretty priceless that one. The Ole Greeny history is a great one as well. A botched (sort of) guitar repair / service and boom, a legend is born.
Worth noting that a lot of Gibson Les Paul’s have the pickups out of phase from the factory. A lack of quality control on which way the magnet goes into each pickup. But Greeny also had some rewiring and stuff which they guy who did it freely admits he wasn’t sure about.
Sell the house!!
No need to sell the house. Just win the Euromillions. Simples.
Learning the Cults Lil’ Devil this week along with Pearl Jams Rearviewmirror riff.
Will learn some more Cult as well.
You’re entering Gretsch territory there!!
I do need to sort out my amp / playing situation to be honest. I need need to actually start playing more songs again. The scales etc. are coming along great but I need to put them into more practice / real situations now.
So learnt Wild Flower by The Cult but struggling with Sweet Soul Sister but have learnt I Believe In A Thing Called Love intro by The Darkness.
Good one.
Rough week for me. I’ve been working until 10 - 11pm every night.
Something’s not right somewhere.
Bought a secpnd hand looper pedal today as a little consolation after the ladt couple of months at work.
Jusr waiting for that little amp next.
Guitar wise i’m no closer though.
