Nice bit of kit
Only issue is it looks like what I have - not saying it will sound the same.

I think its known that when Gibson really pushed Epiphone and used two plants in south Korea for production of this budget series, either the Samek or Fine plant, the build quality was so good it hurt the main Gibson brand. I have an 02 Fine plant Epi LP, and aside a standard Gibson, you really cant tell the difference. I hear that the Samek ones are even better!

This one looks ominously similar to my old one. Same finish that’s for sure Also generally in the right part of the world with regard to the person that bought it from me.

Damn though. Mine did not look that beaten up when I sold it. :worried: Heart breaking

It was… :sleepy: :sleepy:

Not the les Paul your other one the ibanez.
I love their heads. Proper metal.
What model is yours??

Exactly as in the picture. It’s a SZ520 QM (Quilted maple)

Full mahogany body with a set (not bolted) mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. A pair of Seymor Duncan PUPS. It’s all original and a very heavy guitar. Good tone and good sustain on it.

I’ll be honest in that I do need to have a quick look at one fret on it which is high and kills the sustain on the top E if you don’t hit it right but I would sort that, I have the tools for it. There’s also a tiny little chip to the binding on the edge of the fingerboard which I’ll fill with some superglue and baking soda and sand up right. Other than that the body and neck are really clean. No marks or dings.

My tastes have turned a little more traditional / old school to be honest.

Im in love…

That’s quite some leap from a sunburst Strat. Pretty in your face guitar I’ll admit.

The neck on the will be really fast. Super flat and really easy for power chords.

I dont know if you have noticed, but these slim necks, essential the D shape as opposed to the C shape in Fenders, in Ibanez its known as the ‘wizard’ neck, make me play worse. I seem to lose some grip and get a spasm feeling in my hand; weird. Seems that the extra bit of wood aids my grip and playing.

I simply haven’t played enough rounder necks, especially fender style necks to really notice to be honest. I’ve kind of been with the Les Paul style necks to be honest. My current Ibanez doesn’t have one of those super fast necks, it’s kind of in between a Les Paul and a full speed machine.

I think, and I’ll certainly defer to your greater knowledge on this but the faster necks work best with your thumb planted on the rear of the neck while the Fender one’s seem to allow you to fully hold the neck more and have your thumb over the top.

Thats it, the thinner necks demand a more technical or classic technique.
