Nice Guitar

Sounds great as well. I prefer the orange ones sound.

If I were looking at being more towards Nuno Bettencourt, Paul Gilbert and Steve Vai rather than T Bone Walker those are exactly the style of guitar I’d be looking at I think. They’re clear about what they are but they aren’t 80’s hair spray either. Proper shredding machines that don’t make you wince. I do like that they’ve recessed the Floyd Rose into the body so it all sits lower.

Compound neck radius sounds a great addition and great access to the upper frets.

Don’t inspire me playing clean though but that could be down to his set up.

So is the difference between these guitars (in the vid I posted) just the body shape?
I can see that the orange a 2x pick ups together and the green has 2, 1, 1 - I think he said that’s down to the green having a more traditional body.

Some other versions…

tried to look at the Charvel website for more details on the shape but my laptop is not playing ball today. Piece of garbage.

Anyway the standout difference is the body materials. The orange one is mahogany while the turquoise one is alder. Mahogany will be heavier and is likely to result in a deeper, fuller tone. It may well sustain better too. In that regard it’s similar to my Ibanez. I suspect that there isn’t a massive difference in the body shapes given that they are both from the same series of guitar.

I’ve also seen that you can get these with a standard type of trem system if the Floyd Rose puts you off.

I need a new tele, what did you go for?
Sales are on at the moment and I’m wieghing up between a Samsung and a Panasonic, the Panasonic is leading at the moment.

It’s called a Tubby.

They work on Pink Custard. No electric needed.

Downside is, you only Tubbyvision. Still better than Fox news though.

Yep remember that going down, still not got a new one? Always Panasonic.

How long are you going to keep us waiting we might go La La?

The sunburst one that I posted above. I’ll get more pics when it arrives. Selling point was that it’s basically new, pretty much untouched and comes with a case which I like to have for all my guitars. It was also this video which gave a me good clue with regard to possible tones. It’s also heading towards what I like tone wise as well.

But the white pickguard will have to go. I welcome opinions on a replacement colour there. I’m tempted by a 3 ply black but then there’s some softer vintage cream / off white as well.

A very good punt in the end then, an artisans machine. Yep hate white pickguards, but am suffering one at the moment, mind you my tele is arctic white so there is a very subtle contrast. I think you have to go plain and Id say cream, but maybe to that when you uprate the pots, is this the same one? Suppose you are now googling mods!!! When does it come? You are going to absolutely love it and be totally surprised at how good they are, I mean really really surprised! Good judgment.

I hadn’t really thought about any mods other than the pickguard. White pickguards only work on white guitars IMO. Maybe some plane coloured ones like red, blue etc. but a huge no no with anything that tends toward a timber type finish.

I’ll honestly need to see what pots it has and what is possible upgrade wise. The PuPS will be the Seymor Duncan P90’s and no real plans for those at this stage either. I suspect they’ll be noisy but we’ll see.

Play it first!!

With some luck it might be here for the weekend but I suspect early next week is more likely.

Darn it you’ve got me looking at upgrades now, on something I haven’t even touched yet.

There’s a host of PuP options straight off bat from Seymor Duncan. That’s before I look at other manufacturers.

Not suggesting it needs a mod, just thought you alluded to it when scoping it out the other night? Just pots and wiring but the pups will be absolutely good SD 90s will be fine, their Antiquities for jazzmasters are supposed to be equally astute.

Play it first, second and third. Damn Covid probably next week, although, where is it coming from, had one arrive in 1.5 days before!

North East so not overseas or anything like that. I’ll have an hour of cleaning / sterilising first

Nothing against upgrading but first port of call will be finding if there’s actually anything I don’t like. That will take time along with further research on where the hardware weaknesses are.

The SD antiquities sound like an interesting option though but I’m a long way off that.

Thoughts??

You might gind this guy interesting. He has a small channel but does some fantastic guitar projects.
This is the starting video of converting a Harley Benton T style kit into an Acoustasonic copy. Should be interesting, its something I intend to do myself at some stage.

Best of luck with it, I like it a lot. Like I said to Walshy way back Guitars are such a personal thing, one mans meat is anothers poison.
I’m in the process of making a polished aluminium pick guard for the green HB tele I posted a few days ago. I’m stuck until the workshop opens though, damm this Covid shite.
