Guitars, Guitars and more toys that go with Guitars

Without that “poison” half the music in this thread wouldn’t be here.

What do people make of this…

Crazy postage fee. Shame I like the guitar. Would this type of postage fee stop it getting stuck at customs and extra fees like what’s happening with parcels coming into UK from Europe??

Drugs mate more like, but partly true. It technically is a poison for the body though no need for the “:grimacing:

Yeah for sure, horror stories like this are coming up in the news already about Brexit, some lady had a £180 bill from customs and the courier combined. The Tax man applies an import tax on the goods and price of delivery, then the courier scum uplifts it further, well, because they can. This will be uplifted at least by 20%, it will also be seized pending your payment.

Don’t remember “Excess charges on any import from the EU” being on the side of a bus.

Oops… wrong thread.

I think you really need to decide which guitar you want out of this class; Ive heard good things about the Kramer Pacer, and Charval, is it a San Dimas(?), but I’ve no knowledge of these beasts myself, other than the RG I had. The floating trems on all of these are a real ball ache, and thats honest. But you need to fix your mind on the one you really want and wait for it. Else you could misspend here like we all did

Correct Charvel St Dimas. I think there’s St Dimas 1, 2 and maybe 3 now as they’ve changed things through the years.

Thats highly tempting!

Indeed. Ticks lots of boxes but I think it’s the fore runner to the Jim Adkins JA-90 which doesn’t have the greatest tuners and electrics. They’re not cheap guitars but I think all the money went into the body and neck joint (set neck)

Could be changed out for pence, and in doing so make a real job of it. Unsure about a set neck fender tho  it just seems anathema. Just seen its a double cut as well, hmmm. Close here but not jackpot. Do prefer rosewood boards tho, my fingers seem to glide better than maple.

I’ve never tried a maple neck but I certainly prefer the lighter look.

yeah, I went oo when I saw it but it hasn’t grabbed me.

The maple necks do look better I think they have more contrast with the often darker body. If its an older maple, as in early years construction, they were usually varnished, if not worn off by now, but I think thats where the stickiness is worst. Added with I dont think maple is as dense a wood as rosewood, so its grain can offer some resistance. If they have a satin coating, they seem less resistant to sticking.

Always liked Charvels as an 80’s rock machine. While my tastes have moved on I still think they look the best out of all of the guitars from that era.

Says he taken the original pick ups out? You reckon thats made sound better or worse?

Lord knows, as that will often come down to taste and what people want from them, especially when it comes to metal guitars where some might want that really high gain / fuzz that some offer.

I’d try and track down a few videos of them to be honest or hope that there’s a sample on the manufacturer website. Dimarzio certainly do it.
