This guy is good
And so to this guy…
They do everything from one chord songs to really complicated stuff.
The both have Apps as well.
I don’t mind Marty but sometimes he’s too fast. The other 2 really slow it down which is great for learners.

YAY
Same Big Muff but I’m not convinced by the tone of it. It’s too muddy and fizzy. The green Russian version seems to have more grit to it which is getting closer to what I think I’m after.
We’ll see.
Thanks I’ll give Justin a go.
Sweet Caroline put me in touch with Andy he’s ok however I can not see where he’s putting his fingers. Marty even if he goes quicker just demonstrates how he’s getting the sound so much better and as you can pause the videos you end up with plenty of time. I actually mix and match as I haven’t a capo I really needed to hear what it could sound like but just for practicing it’s not necessary so Andy not using the capo gives a way around that. What Marty gave was the strumming and the counting so useful when your a stone deaf rhythmless and clumsy clot like me. It’s just encouraging to get something that resembles what your aiming for coming from the guitar.
That is morbid and reminds me of this
Happy to report the Boss CS-2 Compressor arrived yesterday complete with a battery so I was able to give it a go. Yep, pleased with that one.
Yet more bonding with he Tele which is increasingly becoming a happy place.
A Tele + compressor + delay + touch of overdrive = Heaven.
Getting there. Although mine isn’t a pure Tele in the traditional sense.
Who’s the stoned guy on the left?
Never seen anyone look so wasted and play a guitar so well.
Johnny Hiland. He’s almost totally blind. Very famous country player.
Charvel up and running .
Sounds sooooo sweet.
And relax
The tension in here was palpable beforehand.
Fast neck too I expect. And lets not forget you can
Any tips for these dreaded bar chords.
It’s the finger that does the barring that’s the issue. I can get the other 3 fretted strings to ring out up and down the neck no issue. As soon as index goes on its fucked.
I’ve tried changing angle of finger but 3 strings mainly bottom 3 get muted.
Thanks
Nope but just try the basic power barre chord first (the two lain flat finger version, to put strength into a binary grip first) to strengthen the hand. A little each day, you have to break the ligaments in, its the hardest test this.
Practice , practice and practice is the only real way to be honest. You will get stronger and your fingers will get tougher. They are awkward to start with but they will click I guarantee it. Otherwise dont play the dreaded A shape barre chord with the all the fingers. Squish your third finger or your pinky down across all the strings to form the “A” part. Then switch from that to the E shaped barre chords. @Barnestormer beat me to it.
Another tip I would use would be try playing them higher up the neck say the 5th or 7th fret. Higher up makes it easier to keep everything square.
One exercise I would recommend anyone to do, even better if you’re still quite fresh is to play a simple chromatic scale. Start on the lower E string, 1st fret, play all 4 notes with each of your 4 fingers - 1, 2, 3, 4. But use alternate picking - up / down to prick each note in turn. Move it to the A string, then the D string and so on. Then move up one fret and repeat the pattern but coming downward starting from the top E string 5th fret with your pinky and work all the way down to the lower E. Do this all the way up the neck to the 12th fret moving up one fret at a time. You will build speed and accuracy with this.
I’m still working on that Final Countdown solo. Mine is currently the Jazz version. All the wrong notes in all the wrong places but it is getting better. My issue is my little finger tends to fly too far away from the fretboard when lifting off. Need to work on or find some exercises that will help keep it lower.
Cheers lads ill give this a look after the match
Cheers mate, Im so into post punk I really only use this one now! Sometimes vulgarise it and hold down wrong notes, it actually works. Then some rookie says, that sounds exotic. For me, its art not math, yes there are structures, rivers, but creeks also. Make it sound like you!
