The very thing I was watching. Not quite to my taste these days but still an amazing instrument for the price.
I’ve gone all “traditional” these days. I can certainly see me trying own thing one day
I could see me with that…
£700
you certainly sprung to mind when I saw it.
Guitar porn and we go all wobbly.
B&G little sister is still really tempting but way out of budget for the time being.
Yeah not a big brand name but very likely made in the same factory and with top quality components and a relatively low cost. Spending even that kind of cash I’d say wait until retail opens and you can get your hands on the real thing if possible. The surprising thing for me is that I often love the feel of something unexpected when I play it and the instrument that I had intended to “look” at doesn’t do it for me at all.
Bit like when Hitachi stopped making tvs under their name but carried on making parts for pioneer, Sony etc.
Now pioneer do the same for LG etc
very similar in the kitesurfing industry. So many brands made in the same Chinese factory.
What @TCB says is very true and happened to me twice. Once when I was looking to buy a second hand amp many moons ago and tried the owners Tele through it. Completely shocked by the feel (and tone) of it. Hence we’re trying again, and when I went guitar shopping one Saturday in Cardiff. Basically visited every guitar shop in town and tried everything that caught my eye and was in budget. There was a Sambora signature strat and it just felt horrible, probably set up badly but I didn’t take to it at all. Epiphone Les Paul however felt home, from the moment I picked it up. A guitar that I hadn’t given a moments thought about previously.

Must. Not. Buy…must.learn.lesson…
Dude, what are you like?
And here’s me trying a wonderful Ibanez.
Ill end up buying that Cort. I know it. Its calling me in my sleep!
Barre chords have improved a lot. Oddly its unlocked the 3 finger power chord that I always wanted to play instead of the 2.
My tutor has given me some stretching lessons to help with barre chords.
He noticed that my small finger is weak and collapses quite easily due to fatigue so need to get that tendon that it shares with ring finger stronger.
Time to start playing Blues Shuffles and dig out those Status Quo albums I know you’ve got. But good to hear. Like lots of things guitar, perseverance pays off in the end.
By the way Quo were an awesome band live. Great fun.
It’s an area I need to work on as well to be honest. I bust my left hand up playing rugby many moons ago and have a plate fitted (well that’s what they told me). I can stretch the little pinky a bit but not so much between my middle and third finger. I’d love to play some of the Police songs which use some pretty hefty 5 fret stretches with some really quick changes.
Finally got that dual overdrive pedal up and running last night. It’s pretty sweet to be fair and can cover a fair bit of ground with the tonal options its got. I’m not convinced on all of the clipping options and whether they actually do much in some cases but the tones that it can do are more than decent.
The Blues driver side is exactly what it says on the tin. Not overly gnarly but enough grunt for lots of Blues style playing. With a heap of volume I’d expect it could go further. The other side has a lot more bite on tap if needed and more sizzle / grit to the tone which provides some good tones for 80’s rock etc.
I’ve found the compressor a little noisy but my plan is to sort out a proper board and isolated power supply now. That is the mission going forward for gear.
Im just not feeling the Charvel.
Ill wait for the next £1 selling fee day on Ebay and stick it on there.
Or use it on a trade in Bro, when retail opens. Was it a bargain or did you pay top whack for it?
£550 Inc postage. Do shops do trades???
Some will. I’d probably give it a little time yet but if it’s not to be I guess you know pretty quick.
Ebay, Facebook or Reverb is where I’d start I think. You get to name your price there.
Did you get your hands on that Les Paul?
Re the Les Paul not yet. The bloke who my mate knows is a little flakey.
Ive already put it on facebook marketplace. Just waiting for a free listing day on ebay. They normally drop on a Friday so hopefully tomorrow as ill lose 5% otherwise.
I think Reverb charge 5% as well.
The guitar is so heavy I just cant get comfortable with it.
Some places will, hard to know what they’ll give you for it though. Unless you got a decent bargain you will probably make some sort of loss on it, that’s usually the way it goes.
I reckon when society gets back to normal there will eventually be a glut of second hand options as people sell off the guitar they bought on a whim during lockdown. Just a hunch though.
My collection has grown by 3 since last April
Charvel now on eBay as £1 selling weekend.
Listing is below.
Let me know if you think I should add anything to get it sold. Already taken a £50 loss.
Apparently it has 2 watchers which is good.
