Aye, so their version of Hot Rails.
Cool, nothing wrong with affordable super strats.
So had my first gig (of sorts) last night we finally played an open mike night down the The Crown pub.
We were only allowed to play 2 songs so played (Extended) versions of Cocaine and Rockin In The Free World.
We were 8th so had to wait a while which wasn’t great for the nerves and we took to the stage at 10.35.
We have been asked to play a “local bands” gig at end of June and have been asked to play 45 mins to an hour.
Nice, that can only do wonders for confidence and ability.
I need to do more
So another Guitar Business has gone – PMT – Which follows on from GAK and Bax music that went earlier in the year.
I have (had) a PMT store about half a mile from me and Id heard from my old guitar tutors son who worked there, that they were thinking about not renewing the lease when it ran out in 18 months and that was Sept last year – didn’t think the whole business would go under. They reckon 96 jobs have gone. The manager of my local one has been there since the 90s.
Gear4Music have bought all the remaining stock for £2 million -as they did with GAKs.
I had two guitar/music shops near me within a mile but they have both now gone – PMT and DV247 – Which is online only and now comes from Germany. The have poor reviews so Id always use Thomann if I had to order from Europe.
Apparently BAXs is coming back but again its online only.
I always found PMT helpful (apart from the time I ordered a Fender Strat and was told it would be two weeks – only to be told they got that wrong when I chased after 3 weeks and was told it would more like two months!) but I guess the 2nd hand guitar business is doing well and recently the company that has the majority of share in Fender bought Reverb.
Apparently the profit on Guitars isn’t as good as other industries – check this blokes video about it – he seems to have al the info.
Looking at the prices of used guitars in Balkan countries, it surely is!
