Harvey ELLIOTT: 2025/26 (on loan to Aston Villa)

I understand that, as I discussed it three posts above yours. I think the buy obligation kicks in after 10 appearances, which was deemed such a small number that there was little chance - barring injury - that he wouldn’t meet it. I think he has 5 appearances so far.

But my point is that you can’t judge a player after so few appearances, especially when they did not have a preseason to bed in and adapt to your tactical approach, and it belies belief that Emery would give up on him so quickly.

It’s football, not all players can get the same chance. He needs to do it in training also, not only in games. Maybe a move to Germany would be best for him.

Villa have a good number of players already who can play in a role that Harvey would have been earmarked for. Even though it is easy to a see a situation in which Harvey is thriving there it would still be only marginal gains over the other villa players he’d be playing instead of. If a manager is trying to make a point by about not being well enough supported by iceing out a new signing, as managers unfortunately often do, its a relatively painless one for Emery. These things are also sometimes not consciously spiteful or political gamesmanship, but just managers being human with their attitude towards a new player and what they can contribute unfortunately coloured by their disappointment at the overall situation. In Rafa’s parlance, it’s difficult to excited by a new lampshade when you have been asking for a table no matter how nice the lampshade is.

Elliott is not even on the bench again today, against Leeds. Bring him back, I bet he’s so glad he made the move to Villa.

I only noticed yesterday morning that Villa, a side who took about 5 games to even score a goal, started the weekend ahead of us in the table. One of my mates who supports them said to me the step up has been too big for him and he needs to take a step back to get his career on track so should go back to Liverpool for that

I wonder if the club can terminate the loan and bring him back?

Harvey Elliott is not the answer to our problems…Not pacy and physically strong enough to be a winger and not technically gifted enough to be a CAM…

I don’t think he has a future here either. However he is our player and Villa are fucking him about. I’d prefer to see him back at the club. Even if it is just to get him a move in January.

If he comes back, I don’t think it will be with the view of keeping him, but to find another solution.

He’d struggle to start regularly for most Prem clubs given the sheer demands that play against him, should look to rebuild after virtually 2 seasons of limited football either down in the championship or over in Italy/Germany.

If he comes back to us, he could be playing in the Championship next season, if our current form continues.

He’s definitely better than the Championship, he has absolutely nothing to do there. Germany would be good, I think.

It’d just be for a season to rebuild, he can’t go from 2 seasons of no football to walking into a Prem side until he finds the right one…so then it becomes about personal preference over whether he’s happy to go abroad or wants to stay closer to home.

I hope you’ve decked him. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

If he does come back in January he has to be coming back to potentially play, we’ve got enough of them sat on the bench for a day out.

"First, my decision and also the situation. He is on loan playing with us, but he is not definitely adding to us with a permanent contract.

That’s a waste of everybody’s time. :man_facepalming:

We should bring him back, his season is being wrecked by Villa. He can still do a job for us with the current state of our squad.

Villa have just signed some ‘superstar’ young kid - Curtains for Harvey me thinks

I feel so sorry for him, but he really should have moved to the Bundesliga together with Quansah in the summer. Or somewhere else. He wasn’t brave enough to take that step, to step out of his comfort zone I guess.

I have no idea what were his concrete offers. It’s easy to be smart now, sometimes you make decisions and it doesn’t work out. I don’t think Harvey lacks bravery, he might still end up somewhere else (PL or not) and do well.
