…and remember that if you ever change/increase the number of bulbs in your light fitting… as long as the wattage within the light switch remains higher than the accumulation wattage of the bulbs, the dimmer should give you many years of good service :0)
with the inexpensiveness of LED bulbs these days (go to IKEA!!) should never overload a dimmer…
Stop begging guys.
Here’s a pic…
Anyone here know much about HVAC systems? I think I’ve just been screwed by the company who installed our new system.
We paid the premium to upgrade the heat pump to variable speed. But reading through the instructions on the smart thermostat (ecobe) it came with it looks like these only support single speed fan control.
Have I really just extra for hardware features that my thermostat cannot utilize or is there some black magic that’s going to allow it to run at variable speed anyway?
It’s been known that these companies send basic controllers, even to upgraded systems.
want suggestions on external lighting with a controller. There will be about 25 lights arranged in series connection. Want a controller which will allow me to control which lights to power on
Are those shingles ?
We were thinking on those as well for the farmhouse. We went in for concrete roof tiles instead.
The person where I purchased the roof tiles warned that shingles with the sloped concrete roof can’t often withstand heat of 40C and are more often used for cooler countries.
Wrt this. I want basically the functionality a relay driven system controlled via CAT5 cables. Each relay will control one electricity point. Those relays are then connected via the cat 5 cables to the controller which is then connected to the internet network for me to control remotely.
For people who have idea on this , which controllers and relays are to be procured ? And what are the key factors when getting those.
The idea being that I want to have as less cables as possible. And still be in a position to control lights within the house and on the exterior.
Slate tiles but not very good ones and the ridge tiles are even worse. I’m fixing those up and changing some tiles as I work through it.
Novel way of stopping a leak I suppose :0)
"My husband came home from work last Friday with a trailer full of old tires and announced he was fixing our leaky shed roof. I thought he meant he was going to buy actual roofing materials, not turn our backyard into a tire graveyard.
He spent the entire weekend arranging these things like giant black shingles, overlapping them in rows that somehow actually look intentional. When I asked where he got the idea, he just shrugged and said “free materials, good drainage, problem solved.” The man has an engineering degree but apparently thinks like a caveman when it comes to home improvement.
I posted photos in my upcycling group on the Tedooo app hoping someone would back me up that this looks ridiculous. Instead, half the people said it was genius and started asking for tutorials. One woman said her neighbor did something similar and it has lasted fifteen years without a single leak. Another person shared photos of tire roofs in developing countries that are built to withstand hurricanes.
The shed has not had a single drop of water inside since he finished, even after three days of heavy rain last week. The tires seem to channel water away perfectly, and I have to admit they are probably more durable than the cheap metal roofing we were going to buy. My neighbour stopped by yesterday and said it looks like modern art."
If your heat pump is inverter/VRF based, you need an additional control module to use it properly. However, some configurations allow you to set the speed control in the ecobee to allow the heat pump to adjust speed separately.
This is what they claiming, but based on how frustrating the installation has been, I have little faith that they have made those tweaks necessary for it to run like that.
PM me your heat pump model and Ecobee controller, and I will ask the contractor who put our system in. He also teaches design and implementation at a school I teach in, so it is no trouble to ask.
If its stupid but it works, then it isnt stupid.
One of our friends went with wireless wifi-controlled bulbs which are set in zones (recessed pot lights). I have seen it in action, pretty slick.. will do multiple colors too
Will inquire.
Really looks nice. Too bad the rubber will melt in the Indian weather.
No it won’t, no more than the tires on your car will.
