Diogo can’t contribute directly on the pitch any more. But he will forever contribute in spirit.
He should get another season.
Prove a lot of people wrong

Ekitike is not a gamble, he’s a gear change.
Hugo Ekitike arrives as a necessity for a side reshaping their identity.
In the nicest possible way, LFC lacked a true striker last season, too often asking wide men or confidence-rattled forwards to carry a central burden they were never built for. Ekitike fills that void with intent.
He’s 23, stepping up from a good side where he showed more than just potential. His movement frightens defenders, his press is relentless and his link-up play invites others in. He gives Salah something to play off, opens space for Gakpo and sharpens the edge of a frontline that often dulled in the decisive moment.
Forget the price tag debates. If he hits the numbers in those add-ons, Liverpool will be in the thick of the trophies. That’s the point. This is not speculative spending, it’s targeted investment in a player whose profile fits Arne Slot’s vision down to the studs.
Ekitike brings more than goals. He brings style compliance, tactical variation and positional reliability. That is gold dust in a squad looking to win and win with control.
We don’t know exactly what he’ll become yet. We never truly do. But the signs, the setup, the style; they all say the same thing. This isn’t a hopeful signing. It’s a smart one.
Yeah, that’s what all the girls call me too.
Ornstein is reporting the fee as 69m basic with 10m in add on. Chelsea are using that to ask for 80-100m for Jackson…who is surplus to requirements there.
I know most people have never seen a single game of this french lad, but that looks like pretty amazing business if that is the market.
I read that as ironing board dunno why.
This kid must be special… Even Steve Nicol approves :0)
Steve Nicol thought it was a wind-up when he heard #LFC had made an approach for Alexander Isak, but is just as excited about Hugo Ekitike joining his former club.
“Yes please (to Isak)! The first time I saw it, I actually thought it was a wind-up or A.I. or somebody’s just being mischievous; there’s no way! t’s fantastic. I didn’t think Liverpool would go and spend £120m on Wirtz or anybody else, and they’ve done it, and now they’re apparently going to spend another £120m on Isak. That’s incredible. Clearly they’ve been saving their money. I sent a text yesterday saying ‘Have Liverpool robbed a bank?’, because this is unbelievable. Absolutely yes please, and twice on Sunday.
“I think Isak would be my first option but only slightly behind Isak is Ekitike. This guy can score every type of goal possible. He doesn’t just score goals in the penalty box, he scores goals from outside the box as well. He links play up, he sets people off, he scores goals with his head, he can do everything.”
Is Steve Nicol approval a positive?
…asking for a friend.
Stevie Nicol certainly tries his best as a pundit to undermine the esteem I held in him as a player.
Maybe it was Ekitike that we wanted all along. Feigned interest in Isak to get Newcastle to pull out so we could get him at a lower price rather than a bidding war?
For Hugo Ekitike, the decision was easy. From the moment he spoke with Liverpool head coach Arne Slot about his plans for the season ahead, the France youth international was completely sold on a move to Anfield.<
Same as Wirtz, talking to Slot sealed the deal
Hugo Ekitike and Arne Slot had a video call during which the player was introduced to the idea of a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Slot is considering an evolution in the Reds’ game plan, including more structured possession sequences. In that context, he needs a creative player – a mobile No. 9 capable of linking up play, progressing the ball, and making deep runs.
Ekitike was thrilled with the proposal and the conversation with Slot himself.
Here’s an interesting article from the BBC about how buying Ekitike could signal a return to Klopp’s style of football. It also has lots of stats for those that like that sort of thing.
Good with pressing?
Considering Sky Sports carries bundesliga and shows loads of matches, I think a fair few of us have seen a fair bit of him.
He’s quality. And with the better players that we already have he will be even better!
Just can’t keep his gob shut
Actually, Klopp got good figures from the lad during his last season with us. His form (and confidence) plumetted completely after Slot’s arrival.
