2017/18/19 weren’t covid affected seasons so doubt how they can use that excuse here.
If they stay up it will be BECAUSE of Rafa, not despite him. Without the 10 points Rafa got from his first 4 games and 13 from the first 6 there is no question they would be relegated. FACT!
I think your losses have to be under the threshold for a rolling three year window. However, some allowances were made for the two Covid hit seasons where the losses over those two seasons would be averaged out and the period extended to four seasons. So that would be 2021/22, the average of 2020/21 and 2019/20 and 2018/19.
Chop those numbers up and they’re almost certainly over the allowable loss limit. However, I can not see the Premier League deducting a club of Everton’s standing (not that it should matter but we know how these things go) points for infractions that occurred during those Covid hit seasons. The optics on that would be horrible for the league and there is scope for them to impose other measures on them instead of a points deduction. I suspect they’ll have find themselves operating under a budget imposed by the league come the summer.
You do wonder what kind of fuss other clubs down the bottom will kick up should they avoid a points deduction. If Everton don’t finish in the relegation zone then there are at least three clubs that I imagine will feel very hard done by.
It will be interesting because Everton have so far gotten away with doing what i think Derby got punished for.
Perhaps the Russian sanctions will also be used as an excuse.
Most clubs would raise a fuss imo if Everton weren’t punished.
Let’s be honest. Derby got fucked over for a lot less (in terms of the amount that the FFP guidelines were violated by)
I could think of at least one or two who might side with them. Man City and Newcastle for starters. Then maybe a couple of those clubs in the middle pack with wealthy owners whose spending power is somewhat restricted by FFP. And then there are those clubs that might be sailing close to the edge themselves who have a vested interest in a precedent being set not to give out points deductions.
Who knows, going to be an interesting sub-plot to the end of the season. What are the chances all of this is reviewed and decisions made by seasons end anyway. I reckon it’s more likely that any points deduction given would come at the start of next season rather than at the end of this one.
I’m all for a future point deduction…say 22 points or so. Even if they survive this season, They will in all probability know that they’ll get fucked over the next season.
Nothing guts the bitters more than knowing that you are going to get relegated the next season for sure.
I’m not sure there are any are there? Everton were clearly spending too much having to fudge sponsorship deals to keep it going. Other premier league clubs i feel were following a proper plan, spending within their budget.
It’s why the Championship could kill them, their FFP is harsher, a few clubs have to bounce otherwise they will end up a sunk. The parachute payments are also on a shorter leash. It’s why you genuinely wonder if Bournemouth will stick with Parker if he can’t right this form as they need to go up after what they spent.
If you get stuck you get stuck and some drop further. One thing I will say John Houlding (I knew it wasn’t right) deserves credit for giving us the city name in one of those quirks of history, Everton can’t trade off it in the same way we can.
Karma is finally paying these cunts a visit.
However, right now I simply refuse to contemplate them being relegated. I’ve had my hopes dashed too many times.
Anyhow I had a dream they won…
Rough night out?
I can laugh it was a dream, for Everton fans it’s a taunt
If they allow a reset, it could be the making of them. They have a good record of bringing youngsters through. Just a shame for them they lost the ability to spot talent like Coleman and Baines too.
The debt is probably payable by someone that’s true they could spend a few years down there as the Championship might impose its own.
Effectively they need to bounce back most of these that do are well run in general one thing Everton are not.
One thing about players going, Prickford will be one of down with the ship types or some clueless club will buy him for and inflated price.
He is kind of lucky that all England goalkeepers flatter to deceive currently or his World Cup position would be under threat.
To be fair I don’t recall him having a particularly bad game for England. He seems to reserve the errors for club games…
Ramsdale and Pope are better than him.
I am totally ok with that. May his errors help send them down
I think they are but he seems to stick around like a bad smell.
I think he has been more lucky with England there was something really lucky during one of the big games last summer.
As a goalie it’s really rare to hate one but this guy is an exception
