I sincerely hope they go down, specifically to protect our squad from injury. The Neverton players get so hyped up when they play us that their matchday aggression goes through the roof. Typically our players treat it as just another game - apart from Trent of course - but always run the risk of sustaining serious injury through ‘over-zealous’ tackling and the like.
I wouldn’t say I’d love for them to be relegated but I’m certainly coming around to the proposition.
If they do stay up they will likely be in the same position this time next year; most likely with a new manager and a similar misfit squad. Unless the ownership of the club changes or is radically overhauled they will eventually fall into administration. The Merseyside Derby will probably end up at Prenton Park.
I remember years ago Carra getting a 3 game ban for chucking a coin back into the crowd that had been thrown at him. I think the decisive aspect in that was it was viewed as a clear case of retaliation with potential for harm, whereas Everton are claiming Richarlison was just trying to get rid of the flair and tried to throw it into a section of the stadium where there no fans.
I’m intriguing to see how this shithousery approach works against teams like Watford. They won’t face many who are expected to attack them from now on.
I take the beeb’s views with a pinch of salt, but sometimes it is eye opening to see the background of some of these guys. We only see the shit they do on the pitch but what they did to get there is mind boggling.
