I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

New executive chairman Marc Watts — a Friedkin appointment — said: ‘While restoring Everton to its rightful place in the Premier League table will take time, today is the first step in that journey.’

What I mean is that the Premier League could be changed in ways we might not like not because of club owners from the Middle East but because of owners from the U.S.

I think we won’t like how they try to change the game regardless of where they come from.

It’s not just a matter of where owners are from but the fact that many of them are from one country in particular. Plus the fact that American owners seem to have different attitude towards professional sports. Different from British or European owners. They are definitely more money-driven.

I agree, they tend more towards the razzmatazz at the expense of tradition. Probably true of Gulf/Asian owners too (no offence).
Maybe you should persuade some of your Japanese mates to buy a club?

There is also a strong strain of incredulity about the simple fact of relegation among the American owners who bought PL clubs. That may shift as CH clubs owned by Americans get promoted, but the likes of Boehly carry over their US sport mindset

Of their last six matches, there have been four 0-0 results and two 4-0 results.

I’d like to thank Everton for taking points off our two title challengers

They usually roll over when they’re playing our direct rivals… so pleasantly surprised with today’s result.

Dyche trying to keep his job, most likely.

For every H&G , Glazers who proved to be poor owners,

We’ve had FSG as well and I dare say Kroenke too who are on balance quite good owners.

I know FSG made their share of mistakes and so did the Arse owners but on balance , they were still positive for their clubs.

I think Bloom is one example of a very proactive UK owner who’s doing good stuff with Brighton but the caveat is that he’s doing it with Brighton where the blowback of having to sell their talent isn’t as high as what it is compared to be doing it for the bigger clubs. But bloom is pretty much a money driven owner. He needs to sell for the club to be profitable.

Ditto.
Thanks, Greatverton (only for now) for keeping us top of the table.

Yeah, for me, he’s the “perfect” manager for Everton in this period of a club in uncertainity off the pitch, not a great side on the pitch and transition to a new ground. They were very, very close to being relegated. If they made another mistake appointment after Lampard, that could’ve been it, going down. Under Dyche they still have some periods when it doesn’t look good or promising, but overall I think it’s a few years of head down and survive, be solid. And then change when you’re really sure that it’s time to do it.

Players playing to stay there too.

Might put Braithwaite back in my side. I’ll wait til post Man City need another laugh.

They actually had the better chances to score today but guess they don’t work on finishing in training under Dyche.

Yes they kept it to 0-0 but prickford is still the same.
After Chelsea hit the post after a corner, he comes lunging forward with a stretched leg and if gusto didn’t jump up it would have definitely been a nasty injury.

Both studio analysts on motd2 picked up on it and called it dangerous and reckless. I just wished they would show that is how he injured Virgil and that he should be penalised for such reckless action
